Head instructor Blayne is an extremely technical instructor, but MORE IMPORTANTLY he possesses a high level of integrity. The facility is fantastic, and the community of students are welcoming and eager to learn. I’ve been training Jiu Jitsu since 2005, and would have no hesitation recommending this academy as your GO TO for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, or wrestling.
My daughter just started training in bjj, we weren’t big fans of her previous instructor. We called and Blayne answered and welcomed us the very next day. It was refreshing seeing someone still passionate about their craft, and they’ll best perk is the teacher to student ratio. At the last institution I felt I had to coach my daughter from the sidelines for her to get what I WAS PAYING FOR. The whole staff Blayne, Alan and Skyler are great with kids and adults. I ended up joining a week after my daughter signed up.
Such a great place! Been going here for a couple of weeks after I finished my college career in sports, and would like to say I’ve never liked anything better then martial arts. All coaches are very approachable and want to teach you what they have learned from decades of learning. Love this gym and the people I’ve met here. Great people, who are high level grapples and strikers, very welcoming to beginners and people who are fighting.
CLEAN, WELL RAN AND INCLUSIVE. The facility in Northside itself is very nice and well taken care of. The coaches are very good and practice what they demonstrate. I have taken many clients into Bendu for my kettlebell coaching and they all remark how nice it is and how they feel welcome even though they may not be martial artists. Loads of classes offered from kids classes to women's only, and competitive BJJ, grappling and wrestling sessions. Happy to be a part of Bendu.
