I can not explain how amazing this experience was. Our son hater every barber shop we took him to until we walked in here. They were amazing and kind and the energy relaxed our son! My blowout!!! I’ve been getting blowouts (real blowouts) forever and a day! This was top 10 experience!
I always leave the salon feeling like a whole new person! Whether it’s a fresh new look or a maintenance trim/color, this is my go-to spot. Jeph and Melissa are a great team. I love the salon’s style and grit, check out a handmade leather bag or accessory while you’re there too!
I meant to review after my first visit at the end of August, but, well, you know how life gets away from us! If you are looking for a new Salon in Detroit, I highly recommend Black in Corktown. I was hesitant at first, because it seems like a place for "New Detroit" types, but my concern was for nothing. I immediately was made to feel comfortable and welcomed by Melissa and Owner Jeph. Melissa is a consummate professional - mature and knowledgeable beyond her years - and she did a wonderful job matching and tuning up my color from a previous stylist. I particularly appreciated the collaboration among stylists - you end up receiving all of their combined expertise and care. I did not get a cut, but next time!
I'm so happy I found this salon. I had the best experience with Melissa! She listened to everything I said and asked thoughtful questions to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. Jeph is very passionate about his salon and even though it was my first visit, they treated me like a long time friend. Can't wait to go back!
I’ve been a client at Black the Salon since moving here a year and a half ago, and I can honestly say it’s been one of the best finds since relocating. Jeph and Melissa not only provide excellent service, but they’ve also taught me things about my hair that I never knew before—which has truly improved how I care for it at home. Every appointment leaves me feeling beautiful, confident, and refreshed. Their professionalism, warmth, and skill create such a positive experience. I would wholeheartedly recommend Black the Salon, to anyone looking for a place where you’ll leave loving both your hair and the experience itself.
