I would like to take the time to express my deepest gratitude for Dr. Richard Birdsong, Ophthalmologist at Children’s Hospital. Words truly cannot explain how grateful my family is to have experienced his care. He is a true godsend. From the very beginning, he showed an extraordinary level of compassion, professionalism, and dedication. He made us feel confident, informed, and supported every step of the way. It is often said that no one is perfect, but Dr. Birdsong comes remarkably close. His skill, kindness, and genuine concern for our daughter’s well-being meant more to us than we can properly put into words. There is no one else we would have trusted to perform her surgery. We feel incredibly blessed to have had our daughter under his care. Dr. Birdsong is truly wonderful, and we will always be thankful for the exceptional care he provided our family.
Zero star review will fit appropriate. The staff the should welcome customers have lack of empathy, manners, professional skills and desire of performing their job as they should. We came here because we thought was best hospital in the area but is a disgrace of service. Children come here sick and cases dying, crying in the waiting room for hours, no one approach to at lest ask what they can do for them. Everyone acts as they were government employees and they dislike their job. I waited 4 hours and no one call me, went back home. They don't even called me in the phone. Equipment is in bad condition, bathrooms are dirty a smelly. Pay 20$ parking for 4hrs. Animal hospital treat way better the puppies than this personal. My son was sick, high fever, shaking, vomiting, crying, stomach pain...they have not empathy for people as if we are in charity asking for money( no we are paying a lot). Highly not recommend otherwise you will find out and regret.
Overall, our experience at Children’s National was good, and we appreciated the excellent professionals we met throughout a very long and stressful night. My 5-year-old son had a broken arm and needed surgery to place temporary pins. The surgical team was wonderful, and we felt confident in their care. However, the experience after surgery was disappointing. When my son woke up, he was extremely agitated—screaming, kicking, and crying for more than 30 minutes. As parents, this was terrifying, especially since it was his first surgery. Instead of helping calm us or offering support, the nurses focused mainly on reading the discharge instructions and moving us along. I could barely absorb anything because my attention was on my child who was clearly in pain and distressed. It genuinely felt like we were being rushed out. After being in the hospital all night, starting in the ER and then finding out he needed surgery, we were exhausted and needed compassion and guidance. Unfortunately, that support was missing at a moment when we needed it most. It’s a shame, because up until that point our experience had been very positive.
We were referred to Children's Hospital by Kaiser for my daughter's surgery. While the surgical team was great, our experience with the inpatient staff was extremely disappointing. We were told only one parent could stay with my daughter overnight, even though the hospital had rooms with space for two. This policy was very upsetting. On top of that, the charge nurse Karen was incredibly rude. When I tried to find out how to speak with someone in inpatient services, the nurse Malik was unhelpful and seemed to be doing so on purpose. The only positive part of our stay was the helpfulness of the security and front desk staff, who were a great help. The overall experience was stressful and made an already difficult situation even harder. I plan to reach out to the Ombudsman to report these issues and to further investigate the hospital's practices.
I recently had the opportunity to visit the Children's Hospital in Washington, DC, and I can confidently say that the experience was remarkable. From the moment we arrived, the staff provided exceptional service with a warm and friendly demeanor that instantly put us at ease. The hospital facilities are well-equipped and designed specifically for children, creating a comforting environment. The pediatric staff are not only highly skilled but also incredibly compassionate, ensuring that both the children and their families are taken care of throughout the visit. The attention to detail in hospitality is impressive, with numerous amenities aimed at making the hospital experience as pleasant as possible. Overall, I highly recommend this hospital to anyone seeking top-notch care for their children. Thank you to the wonderful team for providing such excellent support!
