Hello, I wanted to highlight my wonderful experience at the Clinique Vétérinaire Des Cheminots. My dog Kira had her dental cleaning appointment today. The reception was excellent, and the staff was very welcoming. They saw my dog quickly. They called me during the cleaning and again when she woke up. I was able to pick her up promptly. The veterinarian took the time to thoroughly explain what they had done and the medications she would need afterward. I felt my dog was in good hands; they were gentle and patient with her. I was very disappointed with my experience with my dog. He was diagnosed with a hernia very quickly without any further investigation. The vet didn't even watch him walk and barely examined him. She didn't note his high temperature in his chart. This temperature was a sign that something wasn't right, and she concluded it was due to stress from the visit. She wanted me to get him an MRI to confirm the hernia. Even after I called to say he wasn't getting better, I asked if blood tests could be done, and she still referred me for an MRI since her diagnosis was a hernia. I then decided to consult another clinic. The vet there really took the time to examine him, watch him walk, and perform neurological tests. In short, everything that hadn't been done. She strongly doubted it was a hernia, finding his case quite unusual. She adjusted his medication, reducing the dosage and prescribing something else for the inflammation. At my request, she suggested that an osteopath could help with the diagnosis before considering an MRI. Five people examined my dog after the first vet, and none of them believed it was a hernia. It was thanks to the osteopath that we were led toward a probable diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. After further tests, this diagnosis was confirmed. Following a course of cortisone medication, he started walking again the very next day. The fever is a basic sign of rheumatoid arthritis and should have been taken seriously. My dog's case simply served to make the vet take her consultations more seriously in the future and avoid hasty diagnoses by taking the time to thoroughly investigate everything. And above all, to follow up after the dog returns home. This was not done. It was an easy $400 for the clinic, only to then refer my dog to the hospital for an MRI when that wasn't even a solution. In the end, after I complained, they told me that polyarthritis was a rare condition. But no, polyarthritis can be caused by vaccines, a wasp sting, a tick bite… there you have it!
