We decided to try this bakery just from the reviews & photos on a Sat around 12:30ish. They were out of any savory scones at 12:30 on a Sat! That is not a good business! We decided on the blueberry scone which was properly baked on the outside, but unfortunately a bit doughy inside with a lack of flakiness. Charging $5.25 for one scone was just not worth it. Also, the young lady could care less about our disappointment or offer any apology about the lack of baked items. The place is quite small even for a takeout, items are very expensive & way overpriced on some. Plus, there's no parking if it's busy. We came, we tried, we left & now we know! **Also, I forgot to mention in my disappointment, that an elderly lady at the counter was so upset that you did not have her favourite bread on Saturday at only 12 noon!! The poor woman had more of a sour taste in her mouth than in your sourdough bread! *****REPLY TO Dear Grain: A well-crafted sarcastic reply to my review. Touché! Maybe use your sarcasm at the upset senior next time you're out of her bread!! Anyway...We're still serious about resolving your issue though, so please get in touch! Our goal is always to provide excellent service & we would welcome a genuine conversation about how YOU can do better!!
did I make a trip from Buffalo to Hamilton to try their baked goods? yes — and was it worth the drive? also yes! seriously their croissants and sourdough and cookies and everything they have on display is so so good. I'm sad that they are a bit far from me but also relieved because I would be there quite literally every day spending my money and packing on those carbs
We were recommended Dear Grain Bakery from a friend. We were in the mood for some sourdough bread and we couldn’t have found a better place. There was a very nice selection of freshly made breads to choose from. The service was great, very helpful and very kind. The prices seemed reasonable, we got two country style loaves and a pre-cut loaf for 30 bucks. Not too bad considering the quality of this bread was amazing. Very crunchy crisp outer crust with a perfectly soft, airy center. Definitely worthwhile checking out Dear Grain Bakery, if you are in the Hamilton area and looking for some fresh made sourdough bread. We will definitely be back to try some of the coffee and baked goods.
Discovered this little gem today in Hamilton…super nice staff and the baked goods, out of this world! I was in the mood for sourdough bread & googled where to go. ‘Dear Grain’ popped up so off I go. I ended up buying a cookie (Ube & Coconut) and a scone (Ham & Cheese) in addition to 2 loaves of bread. The country loaf sourdough was very good (they don’t slice it for you, they only have sliced pan loaf). But what blew me away was the cookie, WOW!!!!! Have not tried the scone yet but I’m sure it will be just as delicious as it looks. Everything they bake is sourdough based. They don’t have parking space but you can park out front & run in to pick up bread. It’s not a Bakery Café where you can sit and have a coffee date. It’s literally just for pick up & go. (hence the 3 stars for atmosphere). The building looks like it’s been abandoned from the side (if you drive along Bay Street), their entrance is off the side street, a little door. Highly recommend it…amazing amazing!
The place is cute, the service is good too. I loved the classic sourdough! Perfect taste and wonderful crumb. The croissant was delicious, so buttery and flaky🤤 I’ll definitely come again either at this location or the other in Toronto, to try some other pastries!
