Researching this restaurant before booking was 100% accurate. My husband and I were wined and dined and had the best experience foodwise and the staff Many thanks to Esther and the gentleman who welcomed us, couldn't have asked for anyone better to be looked after during our stay, who had lots of menu knowledge. Our meals were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks so much, I wish I could say I will be back but I never visit the same city twice.
I have to admit, we were a little disappointed with the meal compared to the reviews. The restaurant itself is lovely, we were sat in a beautiful room by a fire place & it felt super Christmassy! However the food was fairly basic, didn’t feel like they were many authentic Italian starters on offer, we opted for the prawns and then the focaccia. Focaccia was more like a flatbread - although nice just not what was expected. The prawns were huge but tasteless I’d say. I then opted for a carbonara as it listed it was made the authentic way with no cream - but the meal felt dry, lacked flavour and felt like it wasn’t freshly prepared. So unfortunately not somewhere we’d rush to come back to.
I booked for 18 people and the staff were so patient with us and all the changes. On the night everyone was so organised, efficient and polite. The food was excellent and good from scratch. The ambience was very cozy and it was the right temperature. We will certainly be back and I can recommend this place to everyone.
Where to start? My in-laws recommended Divino based on a meal they had a few weeks before we got to go Scotland on our trip. We were greeted promptly and sat at a lovely table. Cristofer was great and very Italian (as was the entire staff it seemed. A refreshing change from what I am used to in the US. I knew this meal was going to be amazing). He explained the special (which was squash/bleu cheese puree in ravioli which was delicious). We ordered a few delicious cocktails, got the FOCACCIA CARRARESE appetizer, which I cannot recommend highly enough. Seriously, get it. You’ll thank me later. Our main pasta dishes were fantastic, the sautéed mushroom side was amazing, all around a 5 star experience. Thanks for an amazing last dinner in Edinburgh before we head out, Cristofer and crew. If and when we return to Edinburgh, we will be eating here again. Oh, and the playlist was fire! Great job, Divino!
What a fantastic find! We’re big fans of Italian food, and wherever we travel, we always seek out a local Italian restaurant. Divino Enoteca reminded us exactly why we love Italian cuisine. All three of us ordered pasta dishes, and every plate was delicious. The service was equally impressive—our waiter was friendly, attentive, and always appeared at just the right moment, whether to take our order, check in, or notice what we needed. Tucked away in a small corner of Edinburgh’s Old Town, this gem is easy to miss but impossible to forget. Highly recommended for anyone who truly loves Italian cuisine.
