We loved this restaurant. From the minute you walk through the door you are treated to excellence. We had the prime rib and chicken pasta that was amazing. We also tried the cornbread and Mac n cheese sides. Highly recommend all of the above. The highlight was the desert of the spiced candied apple. We will definitely go back next time! Shout out to Benjamin our waiter for doing an amazing job.
First time dining at D Prime Steak House. They only had availability at 10:00 PM, and since they close at 10:30, I understand we were there at the tail end of the night. That said, the service was just okay—nothing terrible, but it did feel a bit rushed. I totally get end-of-night fatigue, but a little more effort would have elevated the experience. The drinks were honestly the weakest part of the night. The gimlet was overly sour and not very enjoyable. My friend ordered a smoked Old Fashioned, and unfortunately it tasted like butane from the torch used for the smoke effect. To the server’s credit, they exchanged it immediately without any hesitation, which I appreciated. Now for the highlight: the steak saved the night. Absolutely melt-in-your-mouth tender and cooked to perfection. Easily the star of the show and the reason this place still earns a strong rating. The rest of the food was solid and enjoyable, but the steak truly stood out. Despite a few hiccups, I’d be willing to give D Prime another try—hopefully earlier in the evening next time to get the full experience.
looking forward to visiting again next time in Detroit. while i has the ribeye, if like to try the bone in prime cut next time. the truffle Mac and cheese with lobster was very memorable. and their signature cocktail, was very refreshing. could easily enjoy several. the service was excellent, and on my Detroit short list to visit again.
Top notch steakhouse and seafood restaurant inside the MGM Detroit. The tomahawk steak is massive, juicy and tender. The king crab legs are meaty, sweet and delicious. The lobster tail is large and it is mighty delicious. The shrimp appetizer is a must have along with the crab cake. Do Not miss the dessert. You will be sorry. The restaurant is small but roomy. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I stay at the MGM at least 6 times a year. I never skip this restaurant. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for delicious food.
D. Prime truly lives up to its reputation. I went with the Maple Glazed Salmon, and it was beautifully seared with a delicate balance of flavors—the carrot purée paired surprisingly well with the bright, citrusy Yuzu Beurre Blanc. My father chose the Chilean Sea Bass, and the clean plate at the end said everything. The Champagne and Tarragon Beurre Blanc added just the right touch of richness without overpowering the fish. Now, the sides might just steal the entire spotlight. The D. Prime Cornbread arrives in its own cast iron skillet and stays warm through the whole meal. It comes with three different butters: honey ginger, cracked pepper and roasted garlic, and smoked sea salt with maple. There’s truly a flavor for every mood. The Creamed Corn is essential, thanks to the Shishito Peppers adding depth and just a hint of intrigue. And the Sautéed Wild Mushrooms finished with Sherry are rich, earthy, and truly memorable. In short: go, and go soon.
