Words literally cannot express my satisfaction in this restaurant. We woke up this morning wanting breakfast so we Googled "pancakes on Jefferson". This place popped up. We went over the menu and said this is it. Got dressed and headed out forgetting the Auto Show was here and parking would be hard to find. We were prepared to settle for bland IHOP but something told us to keep trying to find parking. Finally we found reasonable parking a seven minute walk away. The walk in the cold ended up being so worth it. We entered expecting a wait but was able to immediately be placed at the bar. Everyone was so friendly. Our servers name was Norris. Absolutely amazing. For drinks I had a tropical mocktail and he had the coffee of the day. The mocktail was AMAZING and he loved the coffee (even had two cups). We shared a starter of crab cake with corn slaw. Very flavorful. For our meals I ordered shrimp and grits and he ordered Mardi Gras pasta (recommend by the server). Let me start off by saying I am not a grits person but these grits converted me. The gravy was savory and the shrimp (I chose grilled) was tender and perfectly cooked. He enjoyed his Mardi Gras pasta, finishing every bite. Then we decided to share a dessert. We got sweet potato cheesecake with maple frosting. Knocked our socks off. Besides the food being top tier the ambiance was amazing. I felt so comfortable like I was at a family members home. The playlist was amazing, jamming to 90's R&B. There were scenic displays on the tv screens. All the people working there were kind and beautiful. I didn't want to leave. I am already planning a sisters date there and a return visit with him. Outstanding. I would suggest anyone looking for a good breakfast/brunch spot to give this place a try. And for those complaining about the wait, you have to wait for freshly prepared good food. And the prices were very reasonable.
My friends and I just visited this establishment after going to Sista Strut (breast cancer walk) this morning because it was walking distance from the Spirit of Detroit. Well, I am so happy we did! We were greeted by a pleasant young lady behind the bar. We did have to wait due to a having a large party (9 ppl) but it was well worth it. I ordered a peach old fashioned (I forgot the actual name from the menu) and not only was it good but it was strong! Lol Unfortunately, I did not get to really indulged because I ate a breakfast sandwich at the event. I did however order the grits and the pork bites and babbbbyyyyy! My friend also let me taste a piece of her omelette which had shrimp, crab, feta, etc and it was sooooo good! Our waitress was very attentive and even the manager/owner checked on us. I will definitely be back!
Today was their 1 year anniversary ❤️ the food was delicious 😋. I had the catfish and grits I added shrimp. It was some of the tasty grits the catfish fillet was seasoned the shrimp had just the right amount of Cajun. My wife had they're breakfast platter with a side of pancakes. The sausage and potatoes stole the show. They had live music I can't wait to come back and eat.
Stopped in at Sugah Please for brunch and it definitely lived up to the hype! I ordered the chicken wings and French toast, and it was delicious, perfectly crispy wings paired with sweet, fluffy toast topped with fruit and cream. Such a great combo. The atmosphere was lively, and I really enjoyed that they had a DJ spinning music, which gave the brunch a fun vibe. Service was a little on the slow side, but to be fair, the place got busy very quickly. Overall though, the food and the energy made it worth the wait. Would definitely come back next time I’m in Detroit for another brunch experience!
This place was recommended by all 3 of the hotel receptionists I asked. It is in a great location in the business district, just a block from the Riverwalk, and directly below the free people mover stop. The menu is simply laid out and the menu is very clean. I chose the Ethiopian coffee (coffee of the day). It came in an old school plain white diner mug and made me miss simpler days. I chose the cinnamon roll French toast. When it came out, they had blueberries on it which the menu did not show. What a delightful treat! The server recommended a half order so that I could get a side of protein. I chose the bacon. When it arrived, it was a perfect crispiness. I really enjoyed the vibe with jazz playing in the restaurant. I enjoyed talking with the server as she had a lot of good advice and history of the local area. She made recommendations for dinner that I will definitely pursue. Note: The entrance is through the business foyer. Picture added.
