Great barber shop in Oakland. Came here on recommendation from some Berkeley and Oakland locals and have returned four times. Each time the cut is different, and always very good. Booking 3-4 weeks ahead recommended using Booksy.
I LOVED my first experience coming here. I'm only a 5 minute walk away so it's so nice to have a great local barbershop. The store was clean and nicely decorated and had a friendly, calm atmosphere. Sam, who cut my hair, was so friendly and did a fantastic job. The online booking system was easier to use than other shops' too.
The best in the business!! I have followed Joe from shop to shop and now he has his own, he has created the PERFECT barber shop. It has the best vibe, standards, and quality. If I can’t get in with Joe I can go to any other barber here and get a perfect cut. East Lake Barber Shop is a jewel in Oakland’s crown. Reggie loves it too!
I have been getting my hair cut with Joe for about 8 years. I started with him over at Al's in Alameda and had no problem following him to his new shop in Oakland, which worked out now that I live close by. Joe built a beautiful space in East Lake. A modern space with old-school touches. While Joe is my main barber I have also had cuts from Sean and Dickie when I've had to shuffle appointments around and I trust them all equally with my temperamental curls. On top of giving great haircuts, East Lake also provides a great atmosphere. I always feel comfortable engaging in conversation across the shop or sitting in silence when the mood suits me.
I trust my hair to these fellas. I drive from pinole passing I'm sure many barbers, they really are the best. Very professional and personable guys who show you respect as a customer. Always leave feeling great about it.
