So very happy with my experience here. Not only do they have the most exotic pets but they are extremely knowledgeable and taught me a few things about my own small animals that I didn’t know. We are so very thankful and excited for adopting our very own bushbaby. Thank you Monica and your staff for being so kind and helpful!
I visited Gallery of Pets recently and was deeply disturbed by the husbandry standards. For a shop that has been operating since the 1970s, there is no excuse for lacking the fundamental knowledge required to provide humane care. Personal Experience: A year ago, we purchased a bearded dragon from this store. They told us he was 6 months old. Upon taking him to a vet, we were informed he was actually closer to 2 months old. The vet noted that if he truly was 6 months old, he was severely malnourished and stunted. He was also missing a toe—a common result of the "co-habiting" (housing multiple dragons together) that they still practice today. Current Issues Observed: * Severe Illness: On my most recent visit, I saw a bearded dragon with visible signs of advanced Mouth Rot or Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD). When I pointed this out, the employee pointed at another bearded dragon that had poop on its face, and once I corrected her, she acted as if no one was aware. She then told the manager about our concerns(she hadn’t noticed either), and the manager said that they probably needed to quarantine him and call the vet. These are conditions that take months of neglect to reach this state; there is no way a responsible shop could "miss" this. * Inadequate Housing: They continue to house multiple reptiles in small tanks with "reptile carpet" (a bacterial breeding ground). They are ignoring the industry standard of 40-gallon minimums for babies and 120-gallon for adults. * Betta Neglect: Bettas are kept in dirty, wall-mounted bowls holding maybe 3 cups of water. These fish require 5-gallon tanks with heaters and filters. This store is providing dangerous misinformation to customers and profit-driven care to their animals. I cannot recommend supporting a business that ignores basic animal welfare.
Visited on a weekend afternoon, cool pet shop in Austin-Research blvd. Has various variety of animals from ground squirrels, birds, prairie dogs ,fishes and frogs. Courteous staffs answering queries patiently. Would love to visit again.Have a good petting experience.
Great service and healthy animals, they saved my birds life! I recently bought an English mixed budgie from Gallery of Pets who was less than a month old. About a week after purchasing my budgie she started excessively picking at herself and bleeding I had no idea what to do and I reached out to them on instagram, the owner explained to me that she had a blood feather from molting (which is completely normal for birds but this one was unfortunately abnormally large) and she was at risk of loosing too much blood, so they reopened their store that same evening and pulled out the blood feather saving my birds life!
It's been a while since I've been to this pet store. Went to get fish always loved going there but stopped my aquarium so no need. Boy have they expanded. So much to see. The staff are very helpful. Also I want to share the Angel fish I purchased.
