Professor Mike is a talented and seasoned Brazilian jui-jitsu practitioner who encompasses everything BJJ has to offer, and with that, he loves to teach it! More importantly, his philosophy of leaving our egos at the door is key to safe practices when training. People of all skillsets comes and trains with Professor Mike. He will tailor his instructions to an individual's needs and interest in BJJ. Simply put, it's a great place to train with a great atmosphere. When someone is passionate about what they teach, then someone can't help but learn.
I am very happy to have found Professor Mike to help me start my Jiu Jitsu journey. It is intimidating starting something you never envisioned yourself doing, and I am grateful Professor Mike made me feel extremely welcome at his gym from day one. I appreciate how personalized he makes each class and how he encourages me to do the best that I can, all within an environment where safety is the priority and everyone is kind and helps each other out. After a little over two months, I am definitely pleased with my progress thanks to Professor Mike and I find myself thinking about Jiu Jitsu more and more.
I had the chance to train at this awesome gym while visiting Honolulu from New Zealand, and I’m so glad I did! Professor Mike is a highly skilled instructor with a lot of experience in both competing and teaching jiu-jitsu. He responded quickly when I reached out about dropping in and made me feel very welcome. His students were also incredibly friendly and open, the atmosphere was really positive and supportive. I was also lucky enough to witness one of his students receive their blue belt,such a cool moment to be a part of. If you're visiting Hawaii and looking for quality jiu-jitsu with a welcoming vibe, I definitely recommend stopping by.
I always have an excellent experience at Gracie Allegiance Jiu-Jitsu Honolulu. The gym is safe and clean, and training partners are respectful and focused on learning the techniques rather than causing injury. Professor Mike is incredibly knowledgeable and an outstanding coach. It's a great place to train and improve your skills. Highly recommend!
It's extremely difficult to find a jiu jitsu gym that has a leader who simply "cares" for his students and their progression. Coach Mike has always been patient, full of wisdom and provides all his experience (on and off the mats) that transcends throughout his lessons. Gracie Allegiance also has Clark Gracie and a few other high caliber black belt instructors teaching seminars throughout the year which has been GOLD in my jiu jitsu journey. Thank you Mike for being so authentic as an instructor and making me feel like part of your jiu jitsu family.
