Great experience dropping into Relson Gracie for a few classes while visiting Honolulu. The quality of instruction was great, vibes were excellent, and the community was very welcoming. Highly recommend if you’re visiting.

Todd Tanaka led an excellent women’s self defense class that I attended and I am planning on returning. The information and instruction we received was top quality and highly valuable. Todd is the best - thank you so much!!

Arranged a private group self-defense class with Todd for my daughter going off to college. Her friends, some of my family and friends, and coworkers all joined in, and it was an amazing experience! Todd was knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly engaging—he made everyone feel comfortable while still emphasizing the seriousness of the subject. The class was hands-on, realistic, and tailored to situations women might actually face. He took time to explain both the physical and mental aspects of self-defense, and he encouraged questions and participation throughout. Even though it was one class, I feel a little more comforted about my daughter going off on her own. Highly recommend this for any group of women—whether you’re heading off to college, traveling, or just want to feel more secure in your day-to-day life. Thank you for your time and being so easy to work with Todd!

As a student at Gracie University in Torrance and Woodland Hills, I was so grateful to find Team HK in Honolulu. They are a Relson Gracie academy but are also a GU certified training center, which makes it truly feel like a home away from home when I visit Oahu. From the moment I stepped on the mat, I was welcomed with warmth, and a high level of instruction. The instructors, Todd, Brad, and Shane embody what makes this place special. They emphasize a fundamentals based approach and prioritize partner safety without losing the spirit of healthy, competitive training. Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience, this is the kind of environment where you can grow, push yourself, have fun and feel supported every step of the way. Huge thank you to the entire Team HK crew for making each visit feel like I never left. Can’t wait to be back!

I’m a purple belt from upstate New York and dropped in to train with Team HK while on vacation. I had a great time, loved the atmosphere and learned some new techniques. Everyone was super friendly. Todd Tanaka’s instruction is top notch. I highly recommend his school to anyone looking to train with a great group of people in a safe and welcoming environment.
