I don't understand why they don't provide tables for parents who bring their children, nor why they don't sell snacks and drinks. You could have a better time with your children instead of just sitting uncomfortably around the children's area.
There was a lady changing a baby's diaper ontop of one of the mats by the top rope section, in full view of about 50 people, and blocking climbing routes. No hand washing occured before she went back to climbing. Staff witnessed the whole thing and did nothing. Just to be clear, this wasn't some incognito emergency diaper change, she was in the most populated area of the gym, where anyone who looked that way got a full view of the baby's genitals and soiled wet wipes. While I'm happy she applied diaper cream, it's disgusting that they went on climbing like nothing happened. There are washrooms right there, wtaf. Otherwise, the place is quite nice
Really great place. My only complaint would be that they don't have the tallest walls (for ropes), but there's only so much you can do about that. The route-setters do a great job keeping things interesting though, and I always have some fun project climbs on the go. The lead lessons were also super helpful for getting me started with that. Big shoutout to Gus. I'm sure the other instructors are great too, but if you're with Gus then you're definitely in good hands.
It's time to update my experience with GRR. After a year and a few months of climbing, I have been so happy with the whole gym. I've gotten to know the setters, staff, and the community at GRR. I've met over. Hundred people that I climb and do activities with. The facilities has changing routes that cycle so you always have new things to climb. The staff have been nothing but steller and are super friendly and fun. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the owners of the gym, as they really care about their guests and the experience. Like I had an experience and they went above and beyond my expectations. Come out sometime and we can climb! I go almost 6 days a week!
We hosted our kid's winter birthday party here this weekend. Our kid loved it and all his friends had a blast. Our kid said, "This was the best rock climbing party he ever had." The kids had 1 & 1/2 hour of fun rock climbing at the kids' arena which was good enough time for birthday activities. They provided 1 staff guide for every 5 kids group which was really helpful to manage a bunch of 15 kids at the party. The staff was very cordial at all times. Infact, the staff members were extremely patient with kids who were hesitant to climb as for some kids it was their first time. The staff motivated them to give it a try and the initially unsure kids were also having fun by the end of the party. We truly appreciate the efforts from staff members in making all the kids so comfortable. Then the arena gave a spacious room for next 45 minutes for cake cutting, food and other activities of our own. The arena provided pizza and juice for the kids which definitely took off some of our load. We had to give the total count previously. I definitely recommend this place for hosting indoor birthday parties for kids especially during winters. Even otherwise it's a great fun place to take kids.
