Starting guitar thinking I could learn from utube. Way too much info and became way too stressful when I took up to guitar to relax. Just had my first lesson with Andy and now a total different experience. Can’t wait to work on my skills. You can tell he really is passionate about teaching. Very relatable.

I’ve taken lessons with Andy twice now, once while in high school and once after taking a hiatus for college. Both times have been nothing but positive. Not only is Andy incredibly knowledgeable in music theory, he also knows how to teach it in a way that is intuitive to guitar irregardless of your skill level. He is a kind, patient, and engaged instructor whom I whole heartedly recommend to any prospective students!

My daughter has been taking electric guitar lessons with Andy for the last few months, and she really enjoys it! Andy is a terrific instructor, with a keen ability to keep her on task while making it fun and enjoyable. Andy has her select songs that she wants to learn, while also teaching her some of the standard classics (Beatles, Jimmy Buffet, etc.). It's a nice mix, and her appreciation for music has really grown.

I’ve been studying classical guitar with Andy Lemaire since 2019, and I can say without hesitation that he is one of the finest music teachers I’ve ever encountered.** From day one, Andy brought a balance of warmth, encouragement, and technical expertise that made learning the guitar feel both approachable and meaningful. I’m working through the classical guitar tradition using the Shearer methodology, which can be intimidating for newcomers. But Andy has a rare gift for breaking down complex techniques and concepts into manageable, understandable steps. He makes the Shearer method feel less like a rigid structure and more like a path of discovery, always moving forward at a steady, thoughtful pace. What truly sets Andy apart, though, is his teaching spirit. He doesn’t just know how to play—he knows how to teach. There’s a big difference. Andy pays close attention to what each student needs, not just musically, but personally. He always finds something constructive and supportive to say, even when progress feels slow or frustration creeps in. His feedback is never generic; it’s precise, observant, and tailored to where you are in your journey. He celebrates small wins as enthusiastically as major breakthroughs, creating an environment that’s both motivating and safe to grow in. Andy is also incredibly consistent. Over the years, he has shown up to every lesson prepared, professional, and fully present. That may sound like a given, but in the world of music instruction, it’s not always a guarantee. That balance is a big reason I’ve been able to stick with the instrument and make steady, meaningful progress, even through life’s inevitable ups and downs. The tone of our lessons is always calm and focused. Andy keeps things relaxed, but there’s never any doubt that real work is getting done. He strikes that rare balance between being laid-back and laser-focused—a combination that creates a highly effective learning environment. He adapts to my pace, respects my limitations, and gently pushes me to keep going, to keep refining, and to keep enjoying the process. I’ve been taking lessons from Andy for about 8 months. He is honestly the best instructor I’ve had since I picked up the guitar! I’ve learned so much and my skills have increased tremendously since I started working with him (especially my rhythm). He has a very calm demeanor and I feel very comfortable asking him questions during my lesson. He is also very encouraging. I like that he teaches theory plus gives you ways to practically apply the theory concepts so they stick. He is excellent at breaking down my favorite songs and teaching me so I can play along with the actual album which is a lot of fun. Highly recommend Andy if you’re looking for a professional and skilled guitar instructor.
