I had a very disappointing experience with Medivet regarding compounded liquid fluoxetine for my cat. Initially, they provided human liquid fluoxetine, which contains menthol. When I first tried giving it to my cat, he had a strong aversive reaction—his mouth foamed, he threw up, and it stressed him out even more. Capsules were also not an option, as this is likely to be a long-term treatment and my cat is very difficult to medicate orally. Medivet suggested sprinkling capsules on food, but fluoxetine is bitter, and most cats will not take it even when mixed with their favourite food. Despite these limitations, Medivet did not take ownership of sourcing a suitable compounded liquid. Instead, I was repeatedly advised to contact online or high-street pharmacies myself, which only supply human formulations unsuitable for cats. This approach delayed my cat’s treatment unnecessarily. In contrast, another veterinary practice was able to order a tuna-flavoured compounded liquid fluoxetine immediately. While the vets and staff at this branch are very nice, I got the impression that either they are not fully aware of what’s available in the market or the most up-to-date practices, or that they are too busy to provide a tailored approach appropriate to the individual pet’s needs. This branch is much better than the Parsons Green branch, which is where I was previously. However, based on what I’ve heard from other pet-owner friends, dissatisfaction with Medivet’s service seems to be common across multiple branches. That said, I am still choosing to stay with them as I am on a membership plan, and I have found their out-of-hours service and support very helpful in the past—special thanks to Rut, the night vet, who has been fantastic.
I can’t thank the team at Medivet Kensington enough for the care they gave my cat, Willow. My partner and I were very worried when we brought her in, and from the start everyone was kind, patient, and reassuring. It was clear that Willow’s welfare was genuinely their priority. I especially want to thank the Roshni who saw us during the out of hours appointment. She was incredibly kind and gentle with Willow. She answered all my questions and really helped be feel at ease as I was very anxious. It meant a lot to be treated with such compassion. Willow ended up needing to be admitted, but knowing she was being looked after by such a caring and professional team made a difficult situation easier to cope with. Every member of staff I spoke to were lovely. I’m so grateful to all the staff involved with willow’s care and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this veterinary practice to anyone looking for a veterinary team that truly cares. Thank you again 🩷
The most amazing vets. All of the staff are so welcoming & kind, I can’t recommend them enough. Miranda looked after my cat and diagnosed her quickly, she has been incredible and we are so so grateful for her! It’s been such a relief to see my cat slowly feeling better.
I can’t thank this clinic enough for everything they’ve done for me and my dog, Lulu. From the very start, they’ve made both of our lives so much easier. Lulu is absolutely in love with her vet Emma, and it gives me such peace of mind knowing she’s always in the best hands. When Emma has been away, Jia has taken wonderful care of her too, and I’m so grateful for the consistency and kindness across the team. A special thank you also to the front of house staff — always so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I always feel at ease bringing Lulu here. Thank you!
This is an excellent vet. I have been coming here for years with my golden retrievers, and all the vets have given my dogs brilliant care and treatment. I totally trust them, and they do not order tests if they are not needed. The level of veterinary knowledge is very high. The reception staff are also terrific - always friendly and helpful. The best vet in the area in my opinion.
