Matt from MJP was excellent, he has undertaken various tasks for me, including EICR and PAT tests and was always extremely helpful and clear in his explanations. Have used MJP several times and would do so in the future.
MJP are by no means a "budget" option but you absolutely get what you pay for. A phone line that is always answered. Electricians who come when they say they will. And a professional service that has a guarantee attached. Matt did excellent work over the course of a few different visits and went above and beyond to find and fix issues and clearly takes pride in doing a good job.
We requested MJP to carry out and Electrical Inspection Condition Report (EICR) on our property. On the morning of the arranged date they cancelled and rearranged the appointment without agreeing with us first. When the inspection finally took place, whilst previously the findings were classed as C3, MJP classed them as C2 (unsatisfactory). This was inconsistent with other electrical contractors and a previous inspection they had carried out for us. The most concerning for us was they reported there was no bonding to the gas supply in our property although the photograph they provided to evidence was of a neighbours gas meter. They then provided a quote of over £1300 to carry out unnecessary works including bonding our electricity supply to the neighbours gas pipework. This clearly was not correct. For clarity, the correct bonding within our property exists and was not checked. Due to MJP cancelling the initial appointment, the EICR was carried out within 2 days of the existing EICR expiring. Despite them being the cause of the late inspection, they wanted to charge an extra £136.80 in order to get the works completed over a weekend. They did not inform that we had 28 days to rectify but gave an unnecessary impression of urgency. We contacted MJP via email and were promised the matter would be referred to senior management for comment. To date we have not received any further update, however we have received a total of 18 emails or text messages in the space of a week reminding us and encouraging us to take up their recommended works. On receiving the invoice for which we had to pay upfront it would appear we have been charged for the installation of 3 sockets. All works appear to have to be paid in full before they will carry out any work which differs fromother electrical contractors where you pay once the job is completed. From this and previous jobs, they have a tendency to always come up with a list of ‘recommendations’ that need attention and then persistently contact you to accept the additional costs. This company feels more like an ‘Electrical Sales Company’ rather than an Electrical Contractor. Having spoken to the electrician who carried out the report, it is clear there is no standardization across the company for works and it feels as if it is based on what the company can get away with ‘upselling’ to customers. We have used them previously and whilst jobs have had minor issues we cannot overlook the poor service on this occasion and their lack of willingness resolve means I would not recommend using them.
Great start. They answer phone, if it's busy they say "we will get back to you" and they do, and they won't keep you waiting long. Second step. MJP staff are experienced; friendly, helpful, very efficient but most of all they listen. Next step. You receive a quote with price a date and time, one where your not waiting for weeks just to be fitted in. Last step.Their engineers turn up on time, they are professional also very resourceful, so work is quickly completed. I found MJP to be a business that's prepared to go that bit extra. Not surprisingly I recommend them.
I received excellent service from MJP who fixed my EV charger. Everything arranged by phone was followed up immediately in writing and they fitted around my time restrictions and came within a week of me contacting them. Lawrence sent me a text telling me when he would arrive, and was friendly and polite throughout. He worked quickly and efficiently to diagnose the problem , then arranged a replacement part and installed it straight away. The cost was comparitive to other quotes I had, and everything was clear and transparent. I would definitely use them again, but am really hoping I don't need to!
