Scheduling and Check-In were super fast and easy. The staff was super friendly all the way through the visit. One thing that I really would have liked if the doctors and office staff were on the same page. I was there to get retested for Covid and I paid my $75 deductible but when I got to the room, the provider said that he doesn’t retest for COVID and that once I start feeling better I’m good to go back out into the public. If I would have known that upfront, I wouldn’t have scheduled that appointment and not waste my $75!
This particular NextCare Urgent Care facility on Tomas and 17th St is amazing. I wish I knew everyone's name so I could give them specific accolades. The front office gentleman is ALWAYS kind, welcoming, helpful and makes me feel like I've entered the friendliest care facility in the Valley. The nurse who did my intake was also kind and concerned about my not wanting to talk due to laryngitis. The PA was knowledgable, took all the time I needed, and helped me come up with a plan on how to improve. I feel like I was heard and taken care of by loving people! They have greatest staff at that location! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
I have mixed feelings about my encounter. I am a provider, but in Women’s Health. I don’t like to disclose that during visits because I don’t want to intimidate anyone, and I want thorough education on pediatric care when dealing with my children. I took my daughter in on Saturday to be evaluated for wheezing. She was stable enough that an ER visit was not necessary, but her pediatrician was closed. I had already listened to her lungs at home, along with another coworker, and we both confirmed she was truly wheezing, and had crackles in her lungs. I made a reservation online and got an appointment within 30 minutes, so that was great! I walked in and there was no one there, we were called back within 10 minutes of arriving- also great! The tech was super sweet and fabulous! Then the Physician’s Assistant came in, listened to her lungs and said her lungs were completely clear/fine. Very different from what I just heard with my stethoscope!! So I mention that my assessment at home was different, and I am told “it’s ok, you’re just a nervous mom.” Thankfully, she didn’t get worse and we were able to make it to our pediatrician this morning, who immediately said she was wheezing. She received a steroid injection and a breathing treatment in the office. So I’m upset that this PA didn’t diagnose correctly- especially regarding the lungs in a pediatric patient. And I’m upset that they tried to gaslight me by saying I was just nervous. 1) Trust a mom’s instinct!! 2) I’m a provider, and know how to listen to lungs. You could have listened again, or called in another provider to check behind you. Thankfully, I have the medical expertise to advocate and seek help elsewhere if needed. But I am scared for the parents who don’t have that same privilege and would have sat at home with a kiddo that may have been getting worse after being told they were “overreacting.” Outside of that, the experience was good.
Everything went as smooth as silk, this is Paulino here: I love that I was able to choose between Urgent Care Next Cares home page or their own app to schedule my visit and fill out pertinent information way ahead of time, I'm very happy with modern advances and technology: thanks to all of you for your great skills and always leave me marveling 😇👍❣️❣️❣️
If I could give 0 or negative stars, I 100% would. I went in a few days ago as a Type 1 Diabetic having an emergency hypoglycemic episode and uncontrollably throwing up. If this is the only line you read, DO NOT GO SEE PAC YEN LUU. When I arrived there was no sense of urgency nor a care in the world. I was waiting for about 10-15 minutes to been seen, which seems like a short time, however when you’re hypoglycemic there needs to be more urgency. The PA decided I needed glucose gel, however she had no idea if they had it in clinic nor any other glucose available. Ridiculous for an immediate care to have “nothing.” She eventually found a source of glucose and administered it, then called 911 after I asked her not to on 3 separate occasions since I knew I just needed glucose. She called anyway and I respected her medical opinion. The EMTs arrive and instantly know exactly what to do to calm me down and actually HELP, meanwhile the doctor is checking in every so often and making comments about me instead of helping. She walks in and I am just drained physically and emotionally. I sweat a lot when I’m urgently low and instead of walking in, noticing it, and helping me wipe it, she walks in with a disgusted look and says “oh you’re like really sweaty.” I was thinking “…okay, help me wipe it or don’t comment on it?” My episode was so bad I was unable to speak, continued slurring my words, couldn’t think, walk, or do anything independently, and she’s going to make a comment like this about me? I tried to move past it and just focus on what’s going on in the moment. She was acting with NO sense of urgency whatsoever. Even the EMTs got snappy with her to do her job faster. She didn’t know how to print a report and instead of trying to figure it out, she stood in the doorway of my clinical room. Literally just standing. When I was leaving, I declined going in the ambulance which EMTs stated was fine. The doctor didn’t agree with my decision, as I was exiting the room the ENTIRE nurses station was staring at me saying things like “look at her, she looks TERRIBLE” and similar statements. Are you kidding? I know I probably look terrible, I FEEL terrible, but why are you commenting on it? I’m 5 feet away from you I can clearly hear you all. I felt extremely disrespected the entire time I was there by staff. The only “nice” one to me was the security guard in the lobby who gave me a box of tissues to help clean myself up after I vomited in the lobby. I only went to this location because it was the only one open at the time I went in. Never again will I visit this location, even if my life depends on it.
