This is literally the first review I’ve ever done. It was my wife’s birthday and we reserved a table for dinner for three. We were greeted and sat with adequate service. We had our drink and appetizer orders taken by a pleasant fellow and pooooof he disappeared. Without any explanation a new gal comes up and coldly asks, “are you ready to order yet?” Confused where our initial server had gone we said, “thanks, but not just yet” she didn’t even have a thoughtful response. “ ok I’ll be back” Still wondering where our respectful waiter went, the customer service challenged gal came back to take our order. We ordered something that they were out of, she said it was her favorite, and we should cry because we couldn’t have it…..whhhhat?!! Shouldn’t specials and what is not available be disclosed at the beginning at a fine establishment like this? My wife’s birthday… they never asked why we reserved a special table. Terrible service! Ok atmosphere (mostly because of service) Good food
Nuestra Cocina delivers the best Mexican food In a restaurant setting in inner-SE. Chef Ben and his team create a menu that is both tasty and memorable. Their drink menu and curated beer pair well with their entrees.
Every time I walk into Nuestra Cocina, I know I’m in for something special. Chef and his incredible team never disappoint, each dish is crafted with such care and always full of flavor. The consistency and quality here are unmatched; every visit feels like a true celebration of Mexican cuisine. As someone born and raised in the Mexican culture, I truly appreciate every flavor and every detail that goes into the food here. It feels authentic, elevated, and made with love. One of my favorite things is seeing the chef talk to his team in Spanish,it’s beautiful and powerful to witness that connection to culture being carried into every dish. The restaurant itself feels like home—warm, welcoming, and filled with the spirit of family. The staff genuinely treats you like part of their own, and it shows in the atmosphere and service. They’re more than a team; they’re one big happy family, and you can feel that energy in every interaction. On top of the outstanding food, the drinks are equally impressive. Their cocktails are top-notch, but the pineapple martini deserves its own spotlight,it’s hands down my #1 favorite drink ever. Nuestra Cocina isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience that elevates Mexican cuisine to new heights while still giving you the comfort of home. Truly one of the best dining spots around!
When a friend from SE Portland says that this is her favorite Mexican restaurant...you do your best to make a time to go. The bad news is we were short on time. Which just is even a bigger motivation to go again. So many amazing dishes I didn't get to try. Authentic Mexican restaurant in SE Portland. Cute and cozy on the corner serving unique and delicious Mexican dishes. Just go and thank me later.
I had dinner at Nuestra Cocina, a tasty Mexican restaurant. The guacamole was amazing. It was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, and it definitely set the tone for the rest of the meal. One of the highlights of the restaurant was the open kitchen, where you could watch the chefs in action. It was such a treat to see the care and precision that went into each dish, and it really added to the overall experience. You could tell that the chefs were passionate about their craft, and it was reflected in the quality of the food. The atmosphere at Nuestra Cocina was also fantastic, with a warm and inviting vibe. The staff were attentive and friendly, and they really went out of their way to make sure that we had a great experience.
