On February 16, 2026, between 2:30–3:30 pm, we brought our 3-year-old son in for a haircut. Josey was scheduled to cut his hair. Without introducing herself, she simply pointed to the chair for my son to sit down. I actually had to ask whether she was Josey. The moment my son sat down, she immediately started using an electric clipper without any preparation or attempt to engage him. Naturally, he became frightened and did not want to continue. This was not our son’s first haircut. He has previously had his hair cut with the same type of device at other places without any difficulty. However, this time he became very scared and refused to proceed. While we were trying to calm and encourage him, Josey stood next to us without making any effort to interact with him. She maintained a tense expression and did not attempt to establish any warm or reassuring communication. This only made the situation worse and increased his anxiety. I am a neurologist and my spouse is a pediatrician. We understand very well how important communication is when working with young children. Unfortunately, instead of helping to ease the situation, Josey escalated the tension. She made no effort to build rapport with our son. At the end of the haircut, I pointed out that some areas were cut asymmetrically and asked whether she could correct them. Her response was simply, “Okay, I’ll try again,” which felt dismissive and unprofessional. During the haircut, in an effort to comfort our son, we allowed him to play with a small toy truck from a nearby shelf. After the haircut, as we were leaving, we were told that we had to purchase the truck. We explained that we had returned it to its place, but we were told in a very forceful and rude tone that we were required to pay for it. We ended up paying $14 for a small toy truck. This has become a place we will absolutely never return to, and we will strongly advise our friends and family not to visit. I sincerely hope Josey considers a position that does not require working with young children, as her communication style is not appropriate for that setting. On our way home, we received a notification that the appointment had been marked as canceled. This raised concerns that it may have been done to prevent us from leaving a review. For transparency, I am also attaching a photo of the payment receipt. Unfortunately, everything described above is accurate.
Great place to get your child’s haircuts. I took my 2 sons and the service was amazing. We had the opportunity to work with Alandra and she was great with both of my kids. Did the hair cuts quick and they look great. We will definitely be going back!
The girl who took care of my son was very kind! He did a good job effectively! 100% recommended! The place is very beautiful and 100% adapted so that children feel comfortable
I love everything about it! My son loves coming here. He is autistic, so I wanted to find a place where he can be excited to get his haircut. Pigtails and Crewcuts is the place! I've had multiple stylists and at different locations, and every single stylist has been SO good with my little boy. Yesterday we had Josey, and I think she might be my favorite. I've never seen him sit so still, and she was incredibly patient with him. Plus he had a train set to play with while we waited on our turn. Overall, it's just a stress free environment for me and my son, and the price is so affordable!! It's a no brainer.
Very disappointed with the Glamour Girl package purchased for my granddaughter. She is 5, on the spectrum, but very well behaved and was very still for the process. She was getting a simple bob for her fine, thin hair. The stylist was rude to her anytime she made one wrong small move. “Don’t do that again!” Was the worst comment. My Granddaughter would look at me and her mom like she didn’t know what she meant because she didn’t understand what she had done. If she had not been so excited about this process, we would’ve left. My daughter just squatted in front of her, kept her smiling, so it would keep her attention and distract her from how rude the stylist was. When she finished cutting the length (not very well), she asked my granddaughter what color “fairy hair” she wanted, but it was hard for her to answer because she was distracted by the room full of kids playing, so my daughter told her to do pink since it’s her favorite. The stylist ignored her, turned the chair completely away from my daughter and kept asking her. She finally randomly said green. She tied in 6 strands really quick, gave her 3 seconds to pick a polish, slapped on a coat and sent us on our way with an uneven haircut that I had to get fixed later, polish that came off within 2 hours because it was one coat of cheap polish, a few dots of face glitter, but a very excited little girl who sees the good in every situation no matter what is going on. The fairy hair wasn’t tied well so it was out with one wash the next day. We won’t be doing this again. Photo is of one part (bottom-right) of my granddaughters hair that I had to go, later, and have cut properly. Update: Ms. Murray, I have emailed you with the appointment date and additional photos.
