Do not leave ANYTHING in your car if you drive here. We parked a block away and experienced a smash and grab. For Ratto's itself, I thought they'd have more packaged grocery items / dry goods available but it was pretty minimal. I didn't go there for the sandwiches so felt it wasn't really worth the trip, even tho Atlas Obscura had recommended it.
Stopped here for an iced coffee with oatmilk and vanilla and it was very good. I also have had a sandwich from here before which are reasonably priced for the area and I think provide a decent amount of food for a lunch choice. The ordering system is a little odd with the papers but it adds a nice feel to it too.
I stumbled upon these sandwiches while walking around Oakland. It’s a very traditional place with many years in the area. I didn’t know what to order because all the sandwiches looked great. The one I chose was delicious. Everything is fresh and tasty, and the service is excellent. If you go at lunchtime, it will be busy, but they are quick to serve.
This is my go-to sandwich shop in Oakland! In the picture: Baguette bread, turkey, ham,salami,provolone,pesto, bacon, lettuce,tomato. Custom sandwich. Get a salad too, they're awesome! Fresh/quality ingredients!
The sandwiches are good, but unfortunately just average. I was hoping for something more unique for the price I paid. Honestly I could get this sandwich anywhere. The store however did offer an assortment of all kinds of Italian cuisine, which was great. I just thought it was a bit overpriced.
