Roll Ups Pilates is truly one of Portland’s gems. The instructors are knowledgeable, attentive, and incredibly welcoming, creating a supportive environment for all levels. The studio is beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully designed, and every class feels intentional and well-paced. I always leave feeling stronger, more aligned, and energized. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a high-quality Pilates experience in Portland!
Roll Ups is such a delightful and welcoming studio. I appreciate the variety of class types and later evening offerings. I particularly recommend Sharon and Kortni’s classes if you enjoy a contemporary style of Pilates.
I decided to try a few classes before I committed to any type of membership or package. It’s conveniently located close to my apt and after passing by I saw what a beautiful studio it was so decided to give it a try. I’ve done reformer before but it’s been years but knew I could handle a signature class. The first instructor Sharon (?) was delightful. She spoke quickly but was extremely patient and warm. The second class was more rigorous and challenging. The instructor was also lovely although when I was having slight difficulty with placement on my foot bar, she came to intervene. She urgently told me I needed grip socks and rushed to get them in the middle of class. I was confused thinking they had a special reusable sock that people use. Before I knew it, she was handing me a pair of new socks to put on. Hastily I felt obliged to comply all the while thinking (did I just get coerced into inadvertently buying these very thin, not necessary socks? 🤔) Sure enough, at the end of class, I was told I would be charged $5 for the pair I accepted. I replied “really?!” The money isn’t the issue. It was the way it was handled that turned me off. Like I didn’t have a choice. I was perfectly fine with my own socks and felt the instructor was upselling me into something I didn’t actually need. Now I have these very thin socks that I most likely won’t wear again. The whole encounter left a bad taste in my mouth. I’m not completely writing this studio off and may go again but wanted to share my experience.
Roll ups is such a gorgeous space to spend an hour of movement. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. I’d never taken a reformer class before and I never felt out of place and felt supported every step of the way! Can’t recommend Rollups enough!
roll ups is truly such a gem—exactly what our community needed! It’s an unpretentious movement space that’s beautiful, clean, and has 10/10 instructors. I’ve had such a hard time finding somewhere in Portland to move my body that checks every box, and THIS IS IT!!!! I love the accessibility of the membership or class pack options. If you’re on the fence, just try it you won’t regret it. My abs are still sore :)
