I have never had a bad experience getting my nails done until I went here. I called ahead to be sure I could get an appointment for a BIAB Gel Removal. The young man on the phone confirmed with me and was the same one to greet me as I entered the salon. I was walked back to a nice table and waited. I was immediately put off by the woman who came out to do my removal. She hardly said hello and never once checked in with me about anything after asking if i wanted to keep my length. I said I wanted them a bit shorter. She proceeded to cut them to the very tip of my cuticle and got straight to drilling. She was pulling and yanking on my arm rather than asking me to move it for her. As she was working on me, she continuously looked up and checked the front desk/door area; she hardly ever looked at me or what she was doing. The first time she drilled into my nail, it broke off the little that was left of the length she had left. The second time, she split one of my nails in two down to the cuticle, and the third time was when I began to tear up. It didn't necessarily hurt all that badly, but I felt out of control and was afraid that the next time she nicked me, it would hurt worse than the last. At the end of my appointment, there was still gel on each one of my nails, and there are now also rings of fire on my nails. I HATED this experience. I cried in my car, not only because of how badly it looked, but also because of how rough she was with me. I paid $20 for a horribly done gel removal, yet still currently have gel on my nails as I type this out. They are also super sensitive now. I don't think everyone here is like that. From what I saw, there were some really good techs here, but not her. I don't know who she is, but I would never in a million years return due to this one nail technician.
First time trying Royal Nails. This place is SO CUTE inside! Perfect place for large groups but it was just me today. I got my appintment for next-day service which was amazing! Hannah was my nail artist. She was a lot if fun, very kind and her attention to detail was on point! She understood the assignment: Neutral, functional, chic. ✅️ Tip: Cash pay for a small discount.
Hannah did a great job on my shellac manicure! I have very short nails that break easily, and she recommended doing gel builder to strengthen my nails. They turned out beautiful and feel stronger. The shellac manicure + gel builder + chrome + 20% tip came out to $98.
Hannah was great, this place is amazing! I got a full set of cat eye gel extension (first timer) they were helpful in explaining how and what they are. Later I came in to get my gel extensions removed, which was also done exceptionally well. Surprisingly, my nails are somehow healthier than before!! Here is the before and after ! Hannah removed them so well, and gave a great massage
I’ve been coming to Royal Nails in Ballard for years, and it’s truly my go-to spot. The staff is always so friendly, welcoming, and talented. Whether I’m there for a quick refresh or something more detailed, they consistently deliver beautiful results in a relaxing, clean environment. Most recently, I had a special set of nails done for an event, and Hannah absolutely nailed it (no pun intended). She brought my vision to life with such care and precision—I couldn’t stop staring at my nails afterward! I also love that this is a place I feel comfortable bringing my 9-year-old daughter. Everyone is so kind to her, and she always leaves feeling pampered and grown-up. Highly recommend Royal Nails to anyone looking for quality service and a warm, professional experience!
