When I was looking for a place to train my puppy, Mylo, I was recommended When Hounds Fly by someone in the area and it turned out to be the best decision I could’ve made. I enrolled in the Foundation Skills class and had all of my sessions with Ethan, who was absolutely amazing in every single class. Both my family and I noticed a huge difference in Mylo’s demeanor from before to after the trainings. The material Ethan taught made such a positive impact for Mylo, and I’m so grateful for everything we learned. I will definitely be coming back for advanced courses in the future. We're enjoying our Foundation Skills 1 course so much so far (we've just had our 5th class - with two left, and have loved them all.) Pur rescue puppy Wednesday absolutely loved her classes at When Hounds Fly! Both Luca and Ethan have been amazing, particularly for the Puppy Socials when Wednesday has started out a bit more shy, and they’ve really helped make her more comfortable by introducing other puppies to her slowly. My partner and I have learned so much and we can’t wait to start Foundation Skills 2 next month! Can’t recommend these training sessions enough!!!

I first became aware of When Hounds Fly years ago when I was running a dog-walking business. At the time, there wasn't much in the neighbourhood that was strictly positive reinforcement–based. A few months after When Hounds Fly opened, something genuinely noticeable happened: more and more dog owners in the area were using positive training methods. You could see it in the dogs. That shift didn’t just change the culture — it made my job easier. I was increasingly inheriting dog-walking clients who already had a solid foundation in R+, instead of dogs dealing with the fallout of harsh training. Fast forward 16 years, and now I have a puppy of my own — and finally the opportunity to take classes myself. The experience has exceeded expectations. The When Hounds Fly UX is excellent. Everything flows smoothly, and the online community for enrolled students is outstanding. Every exercise you learn in class is documented there, including short videos, so you’re never expected to remember every tiny detail. Miss something? No problem — you can revisit the instructions anytime. Customer service has been exceptional from day one. Every single interaction has been thoughtful, responsive, and supportive. The instructors are fantastic — clear, compassionate, and deeply knowledgeable. And the fact that you can join free Zoom sessions with an instructor if you need extra help or have questions is honestly above and beyond. This is thoughtful, modern, ethical dog training done right — and it shows not just in the classroom, but in the community it creates. And you can tell how much they want you and your dog to succeed.

Juno's favourite part of the week was going to class at When Hounds Fly! We took both the Puppy Start Right and Foundations classes and our puppy loved them both. As you can see in the photo attached, Juno especially loved Ethan. He helped us both inside and outside of class through office hours, providing recommendations (ex. the best daycare near our house) and tips as Juno's needs have evolved. We always get so many compliments on how well trained and socialized Juno is and we attribute a lot of it to her early experiences in class and at socials with Ethan. I'm sure we'll be back to take classes in the future!

We're enjoying our Foundation Skills course so far (we've completed 5 out of 7 classes with Luca and Ethan, and have loved them all.) Look at this sweet attentive girl!
