Loved eating here, soft music was playing, food came quick! I ate here by myself with my 2 young sons. Staff was accommodating to the kids and provided kid friendly chopsticks to help them eat.

I came here for date night and while I did love some things I had here I had one issue... I love a good belly cut of tuna or salmon and always order it. At Yama they leave a layer of the "silver skin" on their cuts of toro for both salmon and tuna. This issue in texture can be found in other reviews as well. Toro is such a buttery melt in your mouth cut but that gets ruined by the chewy almost crunchy silver skin in my opinion. I know chefs like to leave it on for a contrast in texture and flavor but I hate the texture and taste. I will be back, but won't order my belly cuts again. Service was wonderful. Our server got a 25% tip. She was lovely. I ordered: 1. The special tuna flight sashimi (silver skin/membrane were on all the cuts) I definitely did not like this plate. 2. The special Toro (tuna) shashimi. The first order did not have silver skin so I LOVED it. The second order did and I was not a fan of how chewy it was. 3. The Yuzu Hamachi roll. A pretty good roll. Unfortunately my favorite restaurant does a version of this they call the Yuzu Hama roll and it blows Yama's out of the water. 4. The salmon toro sashimi. Again the silver skin ruins it for me. But some pieces had less than others so I did enjoy one. 5. Unagi nigiri. No one can mess up unagi. Always a good bite. 6. We did order the SAB app which was bacon wrapped shishito peppers. They didn't have a lot of flavor in my opinion. My bf orderd the chicken karage, kobe saikoro steak (it's served with mushrooms which he hates, but they aren't mentioned on the menu), and grilled asparagus. He liked everything.

The hostess and overall feel of the restaurant was very nice and spoke of an elegant sushi restaurant! Unfortunately that was the extent of the good experience we felt, even for a Saturday night, the waitress only came by twice, once for the drinks, and once to bring our food. My wife and I got the sashimi deluxe and while most of the fish was great, unfortunately the salmon was cut from the tail end and the texture just made it inedible. I don’t think we’ll be visiting again if we visit the area

A nice combination of the classics with a unique twist of its own. Fish was very fresh, rolls delicious, and service very friendly. The ambiance is very inviting - urban cool with warm touches. One thing to note. Google maps offers a Reservation option via Open Table but it always says that there are no tables. That is not accurate, the restaurant currently doesn't take reservations, that is why OpenTable never comes up with an opening.

The sushi here is always top notch, super fresh and delicious. Get the salmon sampler and the ahi tuna tower! All the rolls are great, and even their hot house saki was decent..they were out of more than half of the Japanese whiskies on their menu, so that was a bummer. They forgot our miso soup too. Even so, what we did have was really great and I will keep going back.
