My wife and l would like to nominate Julian Wong for the Family Favourite Award for the 2025 A Team Australian Tutoring Awards. Julian has been our daughter Topaz’s Academic Personal Trainer throughout 2025. Based on A Teams unique evidence based approach to tuition, in 2025 Julian has in quantitative terms been instrumental in empowering Topaz to go from a C grade student to a consistent B grade student. Maybe more importantly with Topaz been in year 9 from a qualitative perspective Julian has nurtured Topaz and given her insight into developing her sense of self belief. Julian has helped equip Topaz to become innovative, resilient and has lit within Topaz a fire where learning has become a self motivated passion. As parents of Topaz we witness each week these successful learning traits. For example, she has grown a passion for reading. This has greatly improved both her English comprehension and literacy. In line with this Julian has helped to develop her public speaking capabilities and indeed her abilities to logical rationalise and professionally share with an audience her view points supported with key references. At the same time thanks to Julian Topaz has become self invested in seeking to better understand the world and this as way of outcomes we have seen with her love for the sciences. What do they say ‘the mind that is open to inquiry is a human that is open to achieving its full potential’. Something like that…. Julian has really helped Topaz explore the world of logic as related to maths. Today she was showing us some equations which neither my wife or I would be able to do (please see attached picture). Her smile and fact she shares this with us plus tells how she must and indeed does study says a lot and we assume all parents would want to hear. Again most importantly this year Julian has with great passion and service worked hard to empower Topaz through adopting key tenants of learning. He has helped Topaz not just to find a passion and self belief, but has developed her to be disciplined. What we mean by this is Topaz now chooses to make the time and make the effort to self study. Again it is this growing sense of self belief that we know is setting Topaz up to be her very best. In summary, my wife and I would like to nominate Julian for this prestigious award and indeed we as part of the A Team family would like to recognise Julian for his service. We also recognise and thank the extensive other behind the scenes A Team staff who help to coordinate and support Julian so he can in an expert way continue to empower students like Topaz. Looking ahead as Topaz enters into her last three years of high school we are excited and have the peace of mind that based on the strong foundation Julian and the ‘A Team way of Tuition’, has set in place, with ongoing consistently and no doubt a level of tenacity Topaz has an exciting future ahead of her. A Team Tuition have had a big impact on improving my daughters engagement, confidence and results in maths. She has progressed from poor grades in general maths to moving up to maths methods within a 6 months period of in home, one to one tutoring. Riley has been an exceptional tutor. Lucy Corish has been our daughters tutor for almost 2 years and has given our daughter the confidence to tackle her study and assignments with confidence and motivation. Lucy is more like a big sister who provides support for our daughter in the fact that she knows a lot of the teachers and what they are looking for from the assigned tasks. Nominating Marie she is the best ATP for my daughter, Celeste and understands my daughter's learning needs. I love how my daughter is so comfortable with her and because of her teaching style, she has helped boost my daughter's love for learning and her confidence. A Team Tuition has been amazing for my son Sam who started with them in year 10. He was really struggling, failing maths, disliking English, and losing interest in school. Mason completely turned things around. What I appreciated most was that Mason didn’t try to make Sam love every subject, instead, he taught him how to approach them strategically and succeed regardless. Sam learned how to study effectively, stay organised, and most importantly, believe in himself again.
