Replace walk in shower with concrete floor and tile. Had same shower replace 3x in past and all of them failed. They used kits. Julius reinforced the floor and did an excellent and careful job to tailor the construction for old places like mine. Well worth your time to Call Mike and ask for Julius if you have similar need. The price we paid will far exceed the other 3 attempts and Julius coached my brother and me on good maintenance tips.
Simple ask - hang up a small strip of smart outdoor lights for Christmas on the second story eve of the house. I had already hung up the lights on the lower portion of the house, so wanted this strip to connect with those lights. Prior to project, I was given an estimate of $550. I clarified when appt was booked that its $120 hourly for labor, so bill could come down if took less time. Handyman came over 2 hrs early, we held out the strip to ensure was long enough, I went back inside to work. He set the strip down, got his ladder and started without testing the lights, connecting them to other light or anything. In the middle of hanging up the lights, he had to leave to get different screws - for some reason they would not work for him but they worked when I used them for the lower portion. He came back and finished. At that point he realized they were put up backwards, so they would not be able to connect with the smart light strip I had put up already. He said he had a Y connector for this type of strip so that may work to get them connected. I told him that would fine. Took him 2 to 2.5 hrs to complete the lights albeit done backwards. Handyman came the next day, Y connector did not work so he said he would think of another solution. He agreed to just put the lights up correctly if he could not come up with another solution. Full day goes by, no word from handyman until I text and he responded saying he forgot to text but would be there tomorrow. That day came, it was too cold for him so said he would come out 2 days from then (Saturday). Saturday went by all day without a word from him. I finally texted and told him to get this done asap the correct way. He responded saying he forgot to call me but would update me tomorrow now. Sunday comes and texts me in afternoon that he could come by at 5pm. At 655 pm he texts and says i'll come over now. I told him to find another time cause I have kids that need to get to bed and his ladder would be on the windows. He finally made it out Wed night, 1.5 weeks after the original job should have been done. Took the lights down and put back up correctly. Did this all in 2 hrs this time. Walked out about a week later when some snow melted to see screws and wire clips all over in the mulch. I spoke with the handyman's boss at one point. Sounds like handyman blamed me for hold the lights out the wrong way when I first showed. Not sure why thats my responsibility since hes the one hired to do the job. And boss of course had excuses for why the handyman communication was terrible and delays. My story didn't seem to matter - which is why I document it here. Invoice was never reduced to reflect his actual labor time (2.5 hrs = $300). If you want to be respected as a customer do not use this place. I'll never use a handyman again
Mark was outstanding. Very talented. Pays attention to detail. Can handle larger complicated projects and is willing to help with smaller needs as well. Look forward to having him back.
I initially hired Ace Handyman to help replace the fascia on my garage because of their good Google reviews. However I had a very poor customer experience working with Ace, particularly Mark. He was initially 1 hr late to the original appt to quote the project, and didn’t acknowledge or apologize for being late. The day of performing the work he was 2 hrs late, I was only notified 40 mins after our initial appt time that Mark was going to be late. He ended up being at our house until after 6:30pm on a Friday due to running late and mismeasuring materials needed for the project. This was after our initial appt was rescheduled from the prior week because Mark “had a more important project” that needed to be done. Additionally, Mark made comments about the poor quality of our garage and indicated that the fascia is fixed and will stay there “until the rest of your garage falls apart around it”. He was unprofessional in both instances of working with him in the comments made about our property and I would not hire him back. I would potentially hire Ace again if there was another serviceperson other than Mark to do the work.
Mark O did a fantastic work repairing our sidings and deck railings. His work is very efficient and of high quality. He is also patient and willing to spend time explaining things to us. We are blessed to have him.
