Loraine and the folks who operate Acheson Wine Co. are the best in the business. As both a long-time customer, and now a supporting partner in the event industry, I implore anyone in the Sacramento region who is looking for a great, local winery to check them out! The Acheson taproom is inviting, aesthetically charming, and located in a great midtown spot. Plus, they often have new varietals on tap to try throughout the year! Seriously good people, great wine, and an incredibly unique system in place for wine distribution to customers. What’s not to love?!
Loved the tasting, it was 7 or 8 (?) wines for $15 pp. Reds were great. Friendly service from the bar, extremely well spaced out. I'll definitely return for those take-home 1L refill bottles. How eco-friendly! The inside seating was muggy, but maybe that was the weather.
Ran into Acheson's at the Farmers Market....absolutely loved their Barbera and Albariño...and thwir concept of recycled bottles (sorry, kept one cause I love your wine) the location is a littlw small but i love the location, makes me want to rent one of the apts upstairs great chacuterrie .....overall GREAT LOCAL WINE (pssst...they DELIVWR within 5 miles)...plus PET FRIENDLY!!! I I immediately Joined their Wine Memebership(pls excise typos, written while enjoying their Barbera)
I have been to this winery before, but it has been awhile. We were cat sitting in the apartments above the winery, so we liked the idea of enjoying a glass of wine here one evening during our stay. There was a flyer in the apartment lobby advertising the winery and highlighted their all day happy hour on Monday. We have a lot going on in our lives at the moment, so we planned several days in advance to make sure we could enjoy the happy hour on Monday. When we went there though, we were charged full price for our wine. We mentioned the promotion and we were told that they don't do that on holidays. Since it was a holiday, we paid the full price, but we were irked by the incident. We looked at the flyer on our way back to the apartment and it mentioned nothing about holidays being excluded. We noticed that they also had the flyer posted on their counter at the winery. One would think they would at least take these down if they weren't going to honor it. The wine here is good, it just ruined our experience to feel like we were being taken advantage of. We decided that we would verbally confirm any deals or promotions before we place our order in any future situations like this, as it seems to be happening more and more now.
I take my dogs to the dog park every day and pass Acheson most days. As a wine lover an frequent patron of the Napa Valley and surrounding regions I tend to be snobbish. A few das ago our neighbor asked us to join him at Acheson, what a delightful surprise. Sustainable and organic wines don’t always reflect the best use of the grape but Acheson has hit a home run. They believe in sustainability and use refillable wine bottles that are clear so they are no easily recycled. The wine is modestly priced and quite frankly very good. My favorite was the Midtown Rose’ which I usually lean toward French wines for. Light and breezy with a mild dry finish, the perfect summer wine. We will be joining and getting onto the growler program. If you are anywhere near Sacramento it is worth the trek… great vibe, nice people, and good wine, who could ask for more?
