This small but mighty bookstore boasts an excellent selection of books in all categories and each time I visit I find something new that I can't help it by or something I've been looking for for ages and finally have found. The owner, Hal Johnson, is very welcoming and willing to help with anything you're looking for. I highly recommend this bookstore.

Stumbled on this rare gem today! Outstanding selection of books and other materials. Had a wonderful conversation with the owner. The very existence of this place warms my heart. So, all you fellow bibliophiles go to Against the Current and buy, buy, buy! Let’s keep this treasure alive and growing.

What a wonderful addition to Mac-Groveland! Don't be fooled by the tiny size of this shop--it's very well-curated and chock full of interesting finds! I've been in 3 times since they've opened, and have never been disappointed. The owner is so kind, too! In my opinion, they have the most eclectic selection of Minnesota/Twin Cities/Regional used books anywhere! (Especially given the shop's small size).

This is the romantic ideal of a used bookshop. Narrow inside with a wonderful sidewalk view of the towering shelves inside. A selection of unique and enlightening materials on the shelves. Everything you’ll see on the shelf is worth the read, the only issue becomes choosing only a few! The owner Hal sorts incoming books on the floor which makes the place active and welcoming. He’s always ready for a conversation about any of his books, what you’re reading, the kind of thing you’re looking for, his favorite books, history, poetry, and more. Literally just so friendly and helpful. This bookshop is a friendship, not just a transaction. Couldn’t recommend more.

Best bookstore in the world. You will definitely find something unique to read or look at. The owner is super nice and was very kind in wishing my son good luck at a hockey tournament we are in town for.
