I booked my mom a massage here as a gift. Although her initial experience wasn't ideal, Jordan (manager) was excellent with customer service and remedying the situation. In the end, my mom told me she received the best massage of her life and is eager to return. Thank you to Jordan and the Alvadora staff who made this experience possible for my mom who needed some TLC and relaxation. We will book again!

On the smaller side, not crowded at all, making the experience peaceful and very relaxing. I layer out poolside, read in the courtyard, took a nap in the relaxation room, steam room, and showered off before my full-body royal massage w Eric, which was perfect 😍

First off, the spa itself and grounds are gorgeous and peaceful. However, I can’t recommend the massage services. I have had many massages over the years at spas, chains, and private businesses and this one was probably the worst I’ve ever had. I have to echo some of the other reviews on here that say it was basically a glorified back rub with lotion. There was no muscle work done and she didn’t focus on any of the tension or knots. It felt very very rushed. I am also pregnant and not feeling 100% about myself and the masseuse commented about how big I looked for how far along I was. She also pointed out my varicose veins and birthmarks during the massage which I felt was strange. I just wanted to warn people about paying double for a massage here that it may not be worth it. The restaurant on site was wonderful afterwards though!

I feel bad because the masseuse was very nice but the massage was SO bad. Probably the worst I’ve ever had, and also the most expensive.

I asked to end the massage after 15 minutes because it was so bad - the therapist was just rubbing lotion on my skin - no muscle work at all. I was truly shocked by such poor quality at a 5 star resort spa, and even though it was uncomfortable to tell the therapist I didn’t want to continue, it didn’t feel fair to suffer through a very bad and very expensive massage . That said, the receptionists were incredibly kind and understanding and didn’t charge me for the 15 minutes, even though I offered to still pay for the time. So 5 stars for customer service, but sadly, I cannot recommend their massage services.

I was recently at the spa for a massage over the Labor Day holiday. The resort itself is beautiful!! I didn’t stay there but I was completely in awe when my uber dropped me off. Alvadora is lovely. I thought the massage rooms were really unique and much cooler temperature wise than I anticipated (comfortable temp - I had just assumed they would be a little hot lol). I hung around the resort for a bit after. It’s so peaceful and there are lots of places to hang out and lounge if you don’t want to go to the jacuzzi or pool. I don’t think you can request a specific person, but if you end up with Erin, just know that you are literally in good hands. She was so kind during my massage and I was completely comfortable the entire time. She worked out a lot of tension I was carrying in my muscles. Great choice for a spa if you’re in the Phoenix area and really easy to get to if you decide to stay downtown like I did.
