We have had our pups in several different classes at Alyeska Canine Trainers and have had great experiences. Our trainers have a real passion for dogs and positive reinforcement training. They have given great advice for training our pups. Shout out to Shelly and Jeff for their fabulous guidance in puppy training! Looking forward to our next class at Alyeska Canine Trainers!
We are taking our new puppy to them for a weekend class, they have been so helpful, kind and amazing not just with our new 4 legged family member but all of us. They are kind and teach the group but also give individual instruction and are very willing and eager to answer any questions you may have. My husband and I will definitely be taking more classes from them and recommending them to other dog owners. Exceptional company.
When I first moved to Anchorage from the valley 5 years ago I was looking for a place to train my Aussie puppy, and found ACT. We went from beginning obedience to advanced agility! This is an all-volunteer, non profit organization, so there are a wide variety of trainers with different styles and philosophies. ACT’s refund policy though allows you to get your money back if you aren’t happy during the first class! With the wide variety of opportunities, this is really a great facility for all types of training.
I first started taking classes at ACT back in 1999. 20 years later I still take classes. I’m not a member of the club, so I have nothing to gain by giving a positive review. I’ve been involved in a wide variety of classes, seminars, and events. I’ve been in obedience and rally trials. I’ve done the drop in conformation classes on Friday nights. I’ve attended obedience seminars. And I’ve taken a wide variety of classes. I’ve taken the drop in classes that are sometimes during the day or evening. Then I’ve also been in 6 week long classes in the evening. ACT is a great place to get involved in dog sports like obedience or agility. I know without them, I probably would not have gone into dog sports. With any volunteer group, the trainers are going to be different from one person to the next.
It's been a few years since I brought my two Dobermans to Alyeska Canine Trainers, but I LOVED that place. I'm thinking of getting a puppy and I will most certainly be signing up for classes there. What I really liked was that I was the handler and participated in the training. So at the same time as my dogs were learning, I was learning, too! We went through Beginning Puppy, Advanced Puppy, Puppy Agility, Beginning Obedience, Advanced Obedience and Adult Agility! Loved it!
