This place is amazing 11 years ago. Prairie dogs, cats, more selection, better customer service, and more organized. Place has done unique animals and such. But it needs work. It's okay. But even my 2 children were not impressed. They were excited and it was a let down for them. I'll return to see if it improves in a few months.

Very nice, small pet store. Fair prices.

Horrific customer service and quality controls. I drove two hours to buy emergency fruit fly cultures, only to have two of the three cultures release hundreds of FLYING fruit flies into my house when opened. The store reps I contacted first claimed that they “sell them like that,” before walking back that outlandish statement and claiming that I lied about receiving flying cultures. They then refused to issue a refund to my card unless I drove four hours round trip to show them the cultures. These cultures were already both more expensive and smaller than the industry-standard 32oz cultures. I would love to support a well-stocked reptile/amphibian store, but I’m not a glutton for faulty products and customer gaslighting. Spend your money elsewhere.

If you’re looking for a place that actually gives a damn about the animals they sell, you need to head over to Animal Ark. I’m at this shop all the time, and I can honestly say it’s the gold standard for exotic pet stores. I recently got my baby bearded dragon from them, and the whole experience was incredible from start to finish. But honestly, what really sets this place apart from any other shop isn't just the amazing selection—it’s the people who work there. The staff has so much insight into every single animal in the building. You can tell they aren't just there to clock in; they have a genuine passion for what they do. The vibe is what really keeps me coming back. It’s a total two-way street when it comes to knowledge. I’m constantly learning something new from them every time I walk through the doors, and they’re awesome enough to sit there and listen to my experiences, too. I teach them, they teach me—it’s a real community feel that you just don’t find at the big-box stores. It’s rare to find a shop where the team takes the actual time to educate you and make sure you’re 100% set up for success before you walk out the door. They care more about the well-being of the animal than just making a quick sale. Whether you’ve been keeping reptiles for years or you’re looking to get your very first pet, you’re going to leave here feeling confident and supported. Fantastic people, healthy animals, and a wealth of knowledge. If you’re anywhere near Kingwood, you have to check them out. They are doing things the right way!

This place needs to be shut down. They take awful care of the animals and reptiles in this establishment. Obviously not regularly cleaning the reptiles “enclosures” which are small plastic storage containers and I mean SMALL. I honestly don’t know how this place is still in business with the way they take care of the store and their customers. The last time I was in there they had someone deliver an order for supplies for the store. He couldn’t speak English very well and they were being very rude to his face and treating him less than but also proceeded to talk about him after he left. The older lady that I guess manages the store or seems somewhat in charge made some sort of racist joke to another employee and the younger one says “don’t be rude” while laughing and obviously poking fun at the poor guy. This isn’t the first time she’s rubbed me the wrong way. She also has a horrible attitude. Though not all employees are like this. Please stay far away from this place and take your business somewhere else. If they can’t treat humans with decency what makes you think they are treating the animals any better. It’s 100% not normal for these animals and reptiles to be dying or severely sick after buying them from this establishment. The smell of this place should tell you enough…pet stores smell but not like this. I gave two stars so it wouldn’t be as easy for them to delete this review. I have noticed they’ve deleted some other negative reviews in the past.
