A bustling, historic store location in Edinburgh offering a unique and authentic vintage shopping atmosphere.
I was avoiding going in multiple times cause I thought the place was one of those niche vintage super expensive stores where I can’t afford it, but I went in today and was surprised by the prices، so affordable and plenty of hidden gems. The only thing I hated was how narrow and small the store is, it gets crowded easily.
Prices are reasonable and the store is full! Good selection of true vintage wish I could fit more in my suitcase
Lots of stuff to rummage through! Prices a little high for second hand stuff branded as “vintage.” I got a nice Italian leather belt with great buckle for a fair price of £12. Wish I got the other one that was £16 also.
I don’t understand how Armstrongs stays in business when their staff refuse to interact with you and look at you like you’re some kind of vagrant when you walk into the shop. Today I went in and the woman didn’t greet me in an empty shop, she looked at me with contempt as I walked out, and didn’t respond when I said have a nice day. My boyfriend has had a similar experience at the same location and I’ve had similar experiences at almost all their locations. A few years ago I used to love shopping at Armstrongs but now I rarely go as the staff make the experience so horrible. Also, the sizing on the clothes is never correct. I understand that vintage sizing is variable but there are definitely ways to measure the item and ensure that people can find their correct size.
Always reasonably priced, always really busy, definitely plan a bit of time for visiting as they only have a couple of changing rooms so usually there's a queue, I've had some fantastic pieces from here like this dress from the 70's and this gorgeous velvet house coat. Prices I've paid range from £20-£35 here
