I highly recommend classes at the Art Academy of Memphis. I’ve dabbled with art for many years but lacked the foundational skills. I’ve already seen my art improve after just a few months of classes here. Oil painting seemed daunting and complicated but Jeff’s clear instructions and step by step method of teaching has made learning to paint very enjoyable.
Jeff is a great teacher and really helps you understand the techniques in painting. If you're looking to learn how to paint, The Art Academy is a great choice.
For serious artists: Jeff has created a space for gaining technical oil painting skills in a structured way. I used to believe that oil painting would be more difficult than acrylic or watercolor but Jeff has removed all of the misconceptions about what it means to be a full time artist, from technique to mindset, if you want a career as a fine artist, this is a place where you can learn everything you need at a fraction of the cost that you'd pay going to art school. I can see how much my skillset has improved in every new painting. My approach to each project is now strategic and more refined. I'm thinking and planning art like never before and feel more confident as an artist. I know that once I complete this program, my transition from Corporate America to full-time fine artist will be seamless because I'm gaining real-world experience about how to apply my skills, networking as an artist and Jeff's wife will also offer insight into marketing/photographing art.
Jeff Allen is an excellent instructor. I had been painting for several years but knew something was missing. I just wasn’t satisfied with the direction I was going. I started attending Jeff’s classes and realized very quickly that this was a whole new world of painting: A disciplined approach to creativity. I’m very excited about the path I’m on now! Jeff is extremely talented himself and that gives you confidence that you’re learning things that can produce his caliber of work. Jeff is soft spoken yet focused in his resolve. I’ve seen first hand his patience when working with students (and probably myself). He’s not overly critical but you won’t get sugar coating either. If he tells you something is good, you can believe it. I highly recommend his class. Whether you’re an experienced painter or a novice, there’s a place for everyone.
I love this art class for my granddaughter. Mr. Jeff is very patient with her and all his students. You start of with the basics and work up to beautiful artwork. Even if you can't paint, you will be surprised at your painting ability after this class. This is a 2 year program. If you can remember the basics taught and apply them, you will be great at this. You will have the potential to: make money from your paintings, make it a career, or just enjoying painting. You can try the class before enrolling. There are various class and payment options. Give it a try and you might be surprised in your ability.
