Extremely poor and unsafe experience. I have had repeated negative experiences with this practice. Some of the most serious issues include: • My dog was prescribed the wrong medication, which was later confirmed by another vet to be harmful for his condition. • During one appointment, my dog picked up a used needle in his mouth because the sharps bin was not secured properly. This is a serious safety failure. • Since moving to a different veterinary practice, my dog has been taken off most of the medication Ashleigh Vets prescribed, as the new vet felt it was not appropriate for long-term use. He is now on just one tablet a day instead of six, and the improvement in his health, energy, and personality has been incredible. Ashleigh vets are only after 1 thing £££ Ashleigh Vets have apologised, but I do not feel this is enough given the severity of what happened. These were not minor mistakes — they put my dog at real risk. I will be submitting a full report to the RCVS, as I believe this practice needs to be formally investigated.
I brought my young, visibly distressed puppy to Ashleigh Vets on 23rd December for a health check and to discuss vaccination options. The "consultation" lasted 1-2 minutes with no weighing, no measurements, just a brief touch and comment that she looked "slightly underweight" - no proper health check at all, and no mention of how much the consultation would be. We were charged £70 for this inadequate service that provided no useful information. After the very brief “consultation”, the reception staff ignored us for several minutes while we stood holding a small, frightened puppy. They also tried to serve someone who arrived after me first, but they told the reception that we were first. I wrote a formal complaint email. Instead of apologizing or acknowledging the poor service, the practice manager deflected all blame and made excuses. They hid behind technicalities about booking systems and staff roles rather than addressing the core issue: a distressed puppy was handled poorly, and we received virtually no service for £70. Ashleigh Vets showed no accountability and made no gesture of goodwill. They're more interested in defending their actions than treating clients and animals with basic compassion. I cannot recommend this practice. There are better veterinary clinics in the area who will actually care about you and your pet.
Wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else! They’ve been taking care of my dog since a puppy and did a fantastic job with her spay surgery, taking great care of her when she was extremely grumpy afterwards! They also treated the death of my guinea pig with incredible compassion, providing with some lovely keepsakes - a small vial with her fur and a moulding of her paw prints. And they followed up with a condolences card in the post. These little gestures make a huge difference. Thank you.
Honestly the best Veterinary practice in the Manchester area for exotic animals! I have had 2 lumpectomies performed on 2 pets Rats of mine at this practice, and both times the cost for fully explained and the particular Vet Aidan kindly called me immediately after both procedures to update me throughly on their findings and actions. For the second Rat, I had some small post op complications as she kept tearing out her stitches 🫠 So, I called Ashleigh’s Vet up and they got me in to see a Vet within the hour! She required sedation and a stitch removal, plus some Activon (honey) to help the incision heal and they only charged me approx £7 for the honey and no additional costs for their actions as it is all part of their post op care - I find this extremely rare for Vets to be so personable and caring for their patients individually! Unfortunately, my first Rat Cookie that had a lumpectomy last December had to be euthanised in June this year as the lumps had developed in multiples areas meaning the condition had metastasised. They offered me medication a couple months prior to putting her asleep to help reduce the growth rate of the tumour. Then after she sadly got put to sleep, they gave me foot prints and fur as a little memorial and memory of her. I received a card in the post too a couple days later. All these things made a very sad and difficult experience that little bit more manageable! I can’t speak highly of them enough, especially if you have Rats or exotics pets as they are incredibly knowledge compared to other Vets, very transparent on their advice and prices, and support you thoroughly through the process!! You never feel pressured to make decisions on the spot and there has never been pressure to spend additional money, as they are very understanding of people’s circumstances ⭐️ The picture attached was gorgeous Cookie x
We were trying to find a vets for our four guinea pigs. We have had nothing but the best of care from this practice. One of our babies had signs of ovarian cyst we took her in with her sister to have an examination. They found she also had a heart murmur so we exhausted all other options with their advice. She has had a flank spaying which was less invasive and now nearly two weeks into her recovery. She is back to her old self with only complaints from her that she still needs her heart meds. Thank you for your wonderful care Ashleigh veterinary centre. From pachamama
