I was super nervous to attend a pilates class for the first time as a plus size girly, I've lost about 50 pounds and moved here from another state where I had been regularly exercising with friends. I thought that a group class would be super helpful to get me back into it, and thought Pilates seemed like it would be a lot of fun. As I said, I was really nervous to attend alone but I did go to Renata's 6 AM class and I have to say I was super relieved by how kind and patient she was. The receptionist asked about it being my first time and showed me around, and then Renata explained the reformer and even told me about what I would need to do in future classes to set up for my height. It's a small thing, but a super inclusive thing to offer to set me up for success for a next time visit. The class size was small, which honestly made me feel more comfortable. I had also been nervous about the base knowledge for the level 1 class, but it truly was an intro class & it felt very low pressure to understand everything and Renata did a lovely job of correcting placement & explaining. It was accommodating. She talked to me after the class and asked how I felt, and I definitely felt very welcomed for another class! I wanted to share a more detailed review, as I was really hesitant like i said as a plus size girly pop and was looking for more information about this, but could not find it so hopefully sharing this for anybody else who would like to start pilates as part of their fitness journey. It was hard, but felt really good after!
Paulina is a great instructor! She does a good job at guiding people through exercises and makes sure that everyone has correct posture throughout the workout. She’s excellent at motivating the room and meets people where they’re at in their fitness journey.
