We had talked about him showing up way before our ceremony had started and the owner of our wedding place said he showed up right when the ceremony was suppose to start. He did not make any kind of announcement until I had asked him how he was doing and we had discussed no one was using it. I also told him prior that no one was going to use it during cocktail hour but he insisted on being there before the ceremony. I believe no one really used the photobooth until the guest started drinking. He did not tell anyone there was a video to say to the bride and groom before the pictures started. I did like the fact he had several props to choose from and he did have a scrapbook for us with all the photos afterwards.
