I’ve gone to this place with two of my kittens at two drastically different times and both times they suddenly needed to be treated for worms (neither of them had them) and when my cat was in fact sick they tried to test him for 7 more things than even they said was necessary. This vet does everything they can to get you to spend more money and it’s not okay. I don’t recommend going here.
I had a pup who I had to take to the emergency vet bc he was real sick and found out he had parvo. I couldn't pay their ridiculous amount to take care of him at the emergency vet but I got his antibiotics and scheduled him here at Pet Vet the next morning. The vet is a really nice guy and took care of my pup with some fluids and all the good stuff to get him back to health. Now my pup is 1 of 5 from the litter so I took the rest of the pups in to be tested and to get antibiotics. Yes, the vet suggested a bunch of other things but honestly, they're standard suggestions and I was able to reject what I felt were unnecessary for the the pups with no pressure from the office to get anything else. The vet and office ladies were all very nice and took good care of my pups. My first pup had it worse and he is already on his way to being 100% himself. Im so happy that we were able to find a vet that accommodated us on a Monday when others I called didn't and that all our pups were taken care of. Plus the prices are reasonable and I watched them clean the room and supplies after my pups were in there so I know that they're taking care of their animal clients by keeping the areas clean. I've read other reviews here and honestly, I think if you've had animals before, you should know the process of bringing in your pets to a vet and what your options are. Everything that was done was standard so many of the reviews that were complaining about prices just seems like they weren't aware of the cost of having pets. I would recommend Bakersfield Pet Vet. I'll be bringing my pups back in for future pet needs for sure!
Dr was thorough with explaining xrays results. A little pricey but who isn't especially with same day appointments. Gave them 5 stars will recommend them. Thank you
Follow ups need to be better. Contacting patients about their pets needs to be better. This place is fine but don’t expect top notch services. My dog went in and was diagnosed, the vet did okay with diagnosis and meds. Unfortunately, two weeks later my dog passed. I had to rush him to emergency veterinary because he had a undiagnosed tumor in his head. When I took my dog to the emergency veterinarian, she looked at my dogs medication list, and was wondering why his vet was prescribing the medication that he did. Bakersfield pet vet doctor needs to be more thorough when explaining his diagnosis. I asked questions but he didn’t seem very thorough when explaining.
I initially had a dog Frenchie visit to this hospital for a ear hematoma and they took care of it in good manner. Therefore I brought my other frenchie for a surgery that was costly in other places and a dangerous procedure. but this hospital help me out with the procedure and financing this hospital if, I could give them six stars, I would I wanna thank the staff and the doctor for taking care of my Frenchies and the surgery went good with the brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS
