Yawl! Do NOT sleep on this place. If I could stand outside with a sign to bring people in I would! When you first walk in you notice the smell of a good wood fire. Instant win for me. But then came the drinks, yum! We had the chicken fajita quesadilla and the birra empanadas. My boyfriend literally drank the consume, it was so good. Homemade tortillas. Y'all. It's a must!
This place was not what my friends and I were expecting it to be. We went this past Saturday and it was a major let down. Before paying to park, I called the restaurant and asked if they had seating available for 3. I was told yes. So we parked and walked down the block and went in, arriving within 3-5 minutes of calling. Upon arrival, we were then told they had bar seating or outdoor seating only. Something I feel should have been mentioned when I called. Bar seating was not ideal as one of my friends is pregnant so we opted for outside despite the weather being very cold that evening. We were told there was heaters, but they were not turned on. We then asked the waitress for recommendations as we’d never been before and she was very awkward and didn’t seem to know the menu. I decided to get enchiladas and asked about the sauce on the beef enchiladas and was told it was sweet and Smokey, I decided to give it a try. However, upon arrival it was extremely spicy. That was not mentioned on the menu nor by the waitress when I asked what the sauce was like. I was heavily disappointed as I can’t handle eating spicy things very well. The rice was not good. It had the texture of instant rice (you know the dry, almost crunchy texture of minute rice) and had almost no flavor. The beans were also not very good, they tasted like thinned out canned refried beans. My friend ordered tacos and street corn for one of her sides, and the corn both tasted and smells like they poured liquid smoke all of it. It was absolutely awful and the corn had the texture of canned corn it was so soft, no crunch whatsoever. The guacamole was not very flavorful and the queso tasted like velveteea and rotel. The best part of the meal was likely the chips. Overall, it was not the fine dining experience we were hoping for on mom’s night out and I regret the $32 spent on my meal and appetizers to be disappointed in the food and freezing while eating. It was a real let down given the hype of the place.
We walked in at 6pm on a Friday and didn’t have to wait. Parking was decent. They were busy but food was fresh and didn’t take too long. Staff and friendly.
Our first time at Barrios Fine Mexican Dishes and it was excellent. We sat outside, which was very comfortable with the fans. Bridgette, our server, was friendly, attentive, and thoughtful about dietary needs. The food was fresh, well-prepared, and came out quickly even though they were busy. We’ll definitely be back to try more!
Barrios Fine Mexican Dishes – A Great Spot for Date Night We had a really enjoyable date night at Barrios. As the evening went on, it did get a bit crowded and noisy, but that’s to be expected at a popular spot. The food and drinks were fantastic across the board. Like many restaurants these days, they seemed a little short-staffed. Our server was friendly and worked hard, but she had too many tables to manage, which slowed things down a bit. We started with cocktails—I had their unique take on an Old Fashioned, served smoked in a crystal skull. It was both visually impressive and delicious. My friend had a margarita and said it was great. For dinner, we both went with tacos—I had the fish, and she had the beef. Both were flavorful and satisfying. We wrapped up the meal with the “No Sleep Till Jalisco” coffee cocktail, which was so good it could double as dessert. Overall, a great experience with creative drinks, tasty food, and a lively atmosphere. Would definitely go back.
