We were really disappointed with our experience here. After paying in full for a rental, we tried reaching the owner multiple times without success. When we finally got through, we had to cancel due to a massive thunderstorm that ruined our event — and we reached out a full week in advance. Unfortunately, the owner refused to work with us in any way, and we lost $320. It doesn’t seem right that there was no option for a partial refund or even a nonrefundable deposit system — instead, we essentially paid the full cost for nothing in return. Life happens, and sometimes events get derailed by things outside our control. I share this so others are aware: please make sure you’re comfortable with these policies before booking. There are plenty of other small businesses out there that might treat situations like this with more understanding.
LONG POST but Important to Read before Renting -I am stunned at this company and would tell anyone who is considering to rent from them to run away. I placed a rental request for my 1 year old daughter birthday which was in my backyard. It was a $320 rental to which I was not asked for a deposit but told to pay the full amount and I did (happily). Unfortunately, the weather 1 week before went from 40% chance of rain to 90% thunderstorm and lightening. I called the company early on Monday morning told them the situation to which the lady on the phone told me they do not do refund (which I was never advised off) but that the owner would probably give it to me due to the circumstances. I called again Monday afternoon and the owner never answered. I called again Tuesday and went to voicemail which I did leave a message. I now called this morning (Wednesday) 9am to ensure we can get situated. I could tell the owner knew the situation and was already off putting on the phone. He informs me that he will not be refunding me but that he would give me 6 months to use tables and chairs as if I am an event space. I told him with this economy $320 is a lot of money that I really do not have to just give away if he would be open to a partial refund. He said I am not going to be on the phone going back and forth, I will not be doing any of that. He said everyone is having money problem and I do not change because of weather that is too bad. Again this was for my 1year old. I do not have a money tree out back and I would have been completely open to even 50% refund as I also understand that he has a business to run and that in this economy having a private business is hard. However, he was so unfriendly and not flexible. So I repeat DO NOT RENT HERE especially if you are planning any event outside as they will not be flexible or understanding.
Unprofessional and shameless, Long story short they made a mistake, refuse to refund us and have happily taken money literally out of the mouths of orphans. I called before hand because their website is confusing and we had never rented cutlery for an event before. Let me be clear this is a charity event as well which we have made very clear in our communication with them. It stated on the item page that they are rented in packs of 10 so I wanted to make sure what number I needed to put in the quantity to get 300 pieces. The lady on the phone confirmed if I put 30 in the quantity box I would get 300 pieces. I placed the order and on the morning before the event drove 45 minutes to pick up the order only to find they only had 30 there for us. They said they didn't have any more for us and we would have to pay around $700 to get what we needed which as a charity we didn't have that kind of extra cash laying around. We asked if we'd be able to get a refund since it was their staff who had informed us incorrectly. Why else would we have driving 45 minutes to collect 30 spoons when we needed 300? They didn't outright say it but I think they think we are liars they rudely told us that "You should have known by the price you were only getting one piece". Because that is common knowledge to someone who has never rented cutlery? I thought paying the same price for a plate as I do for a spoon is ridiculous so not I wouldn't have assumed that. I would never recommend them or consider them honorable and trustworthy people in business. Shocked and appalled by the behaviour and treatment we received.
I was able to book last minute as something came up and I required tables and chairs. Ordering was easy and all done online. My order was delivered on time and I couldn't have been more pleased! Will definitely be using Bayside for all my party rental needs!
This was a great experience from start to finish. They were very kind and helpful over the phone. Drop off and pickup was very smooth and efficient, best pricing we found locally for the items we wanted and they were great quality. (Tables, chairs, linens in photo)
