suzanne is one of the meanest people i have ever come across in this community. i went to bel canto because i was looking for a new place to gain more horse experience. as soon as i got to the facility i had bad vibes. she did not seem excited and was very unwelcoming. she knew the barn i came from, and immediately started bad mouthing some of the trainers, and even said some shady things towards other clients who have come to her claiming she had to "fix them". genuinely who would do that as a first impression. i started riding and immediately she started criticizing almost every thing i did. mind you it was 85 degrees and the horse i was on was pretty lazy so already i was overheating and exhausted. i told her i needed a walk break and she just immediately got pissy and told me i was done. im open to constructive criticism, but she was blatantly rude. i heard from the grapevine that after my lesson, she was talking bad about me and my riding to other clients. she said i started crying which i didn’t and it just feels like she's using me as an example of a “bad rider” which makes me super uncomfortable given how nice i was to her. she was also very defensive when any comment was made towards her. i have been nothing but nice to this lady and this is how i get paid in return. mind you i am only 18, came with my friend who is 17, and am basically being bullied by a woman older than me.
What a great place to board, take lessons and learn from an extremely experienced teacher. Suzanne knows so much about horses and riding. If you or your kids are interested in learning dressage, jumping, etc…give Suzanne at Bel Canto a call. She has horses you can ride for lessons or board your own and get to know your horse. You’ll be hooked.
After riding on and off I decided to start learning from Suzanne at Bel Canto. I really could not recommend these stables enough! Suzanne is the best instructor, and I personally feel I have improved so much in a short amount of time. I was in a stagnant place of progression with my instruction before but in just a couple lessons Suzanne has helped me grow more confident in my seat and equitation. She's the definition of patience but she keeps every lesson fun and engaging. Recommend coming to Bel Canto 10,000 times over!
I've been riding at Bel Canto for a year and a half and I am so grateful for the experience I've had so far. I returned to riding after a 25 year hiatus and I couldn't have picked a better place to restart my riding journey. Suzanne has struck the perfect balance of pushing me when I need to be pushed, but also recognizing that riding is my happy place and my therapy, always ensuring I have a positive experience. Everyone at the barn is so kind and welcoming. I never feel judged or looked down upon for not knowing something, and people are always willing to help out. I even bought my first horse with Suzanne's help and she has been an invaluable support and resource as I navigate the joys and challenges that come along with horse ownership. Riding can push you out of your comfort zone, but Suzanne is always right there to encourage and support. Her deep knowledge and impressive experience makes her an absolute gem. If you're looking for an opportunity to learn and grow in an accepting and welcoming environment, Bel Canto is the barn to be at.
Wonderful facility with happy and healthy horses who get plenty of turnout time. Suzanne is a knowledgeable, experienced trainer who focuses on both rider and horse safety, fitness, and progress. My riding has improved more in 6 months here than multiple years at previous barns. There is also an annual freestyle dressage event with a live orchestra open to the public every June which is a blast! Highly recommend this barn!
