A great place to buy wine and spirits, and the prices are rock bottom. They sell cases of curated wines for $99. They also have delightful wine tastings every Thursday for only $10, and you get a $5 coupon with the tasting. Highly recommended.
I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received today—and on several occasions in the past—at this store, specifically from one staff member (young woman with bangs) whose repeated behavior has been concerning. Today, I was the only customer in the store. Despite two employees being present—neither of whom appeared to be occupied—I was not greeted upon entry, nor did anyone offer assistance during my time browsing. This lack of acknowledgment, especially when the store is empty, is simply unacceptable. When I proceeded to check out, I was asked for my ID. I informed the employee that I didn’t have the physical card on me but could provide a valid digital copy. She told me this was not acceptable, dismissively citing store policy in a condescending tone. I explained that I am a frequent customer and not once—including just two days ago—have I been asked for my ID. Because I live in the same building as the store, I retrieved my ID. When I returned, she examined it with an expression skepticism, as though she questioned its authenticity. Because of the inconsistent enforcement of the ID policy, I asked if the store was starting to strictly enforce ID checks, to which she condescendingly replied, “It’s the law” and how stores can get fined for not checking…but notably, she did not scan my ID and therefore has no proof of compliance for the store’s record. Also, during the numerous times I have interacted with her at the store, she has never asked for my ID before. In all, her response and tone were disrespectful and unnecessary. While I’ve always appreciated the store’s convenience and have had positive interactions with many other kind and professional employees, this particular staff member has repeatedly made me feel unwelcome. Her tone and behavior, especially in contrast to how I’ve observed her interacting with white customers, feels racially biased. As a minority woman, I cannot ignore the pattern of dismissiveness and lack of basic courtesy I’ve experienced. It’s disheartening to feel so disrespected in a store I’ve supported for so long. Judging by other reviews, I am not alone in this experience. Unfortunately, despite the convenience, I will no longer be frequenting this location. I hope this review is taken seriously by this establishment and something is done about the quality and standard of customer service provided.
I’ve had several positive experiences at this store over the past few months, but my visit on the evening of 11/21 was deeply disappointing due to the unprofessional behavior of a female staff member with black glasses. While attempting to purchase three bottles of wine, my friends and I encountered disrespectful treatment and inconsistent enforcement of the ID policy. The staff member insisted on checking physical IDs for everyone present, despite my offering valid digital ID documents, a physical graduate school ID, and referencing my previous purchase history. She refused to proceed, stating, “Selling to you guys is not going to happen today,” and even added, “Today is not your happy hour,” as we left. She also remarked, “No one can vouch for you to show that you’re at the legal age of purchasing alcohol,” which made me question whether she was implying that my previous purchases at this store were illegal. To my knowledge, another customer visited the store later and purchased wine from the same staff member. The staff member followed this customer but neither provided an explanation nor introduced the wines. Moreover, the staff member conveniently “forgot” to check this customer’s physical ID during the transaction. This inconsistent policy enforcement and dismissive attitude are completely unacceptable. This encounter significantly disrupted our mood, and I will be recommending everyone check out the other wine store just one block away. I hope the company takes this feedback seriously and works to improve customer service and ensure fair treatment for all customers.
