It was a nice place overall. We had a dip, I don't quite remember the name of it, but it was our starter. After the dip, our food took a bit long to come, like over 30 minutes, but it was still really nice nonetheless. I got medium rare 12 oz New York Strip Steak, with Mashed Potatoes and broccoli. Bacon and sour cream added a lot more flavor to the mashed potatoes, and the medium rare steak needed more pepper, but was good overall. We had Cheesecake as dessert, and they have really good cheesecake. Would come again, just a little pricey in a few aspects.
It's been quite some time since we have been here. They have a really good deal where you can get a meal for 2 for $69 which includes one appetizer, two entrees, 4 sides, and 1 dessert. I ordered a 12 oz New York strip and my wife ordered grilled shrimp for our entrees. For one of my sides I ordered mashed potatoes. I have to say I was pretty disappointed with most of my food. The mashed potatoes came as simply one fairly hard clump of potatoes hardly seasoned and very very dry. My 12 ounces NY strip steak had at least 4 ounces of fat on it and I had to struggle to cut it even with a steak knife. My wife's entree was better. The best part of the meal was the appetizer which was a flavorful artichoke spinach dip. We had carrot cake for our desert but it was pretty dry. Service was only so so. I met my wife there so was seated a few minutes after her. It took probably 5 minutes before someone came around and asked what I wanted to drink and then it was at least another 5 minutes before the drink was delivered. After that, the service was better.
I have been to a few steak houses in town. This is by far the worst I've experienced as far as quality of the food. I've never had to ask for a whole new steak before. Sometimes I'll have them cook it a little more for me but thats a simple request.. This steak was just entirely gristle/& fat. I got a 16oz chunk of rubber. It was hard to cut, and it looked like it was made of rubber. There was hardly any meat on it at all. For a $40 plate, I expected something different than a slab of rubber being served to me. I was out celebrating my 10 year wedding anniversary. And was pretty upset that the food was the way it was for a popular steakhouse on such a special night. The bill was not cheap! And we received no discounts on a single thing due to the situation. Our waitress was great and very kind about the situation. She also made some really great margaritas for me! She truly was fantastic and had a great attitude about it all. I don't really think she had time to be the bartender plus wait on 3-4 tables though. It took her over 25 minutes to check on us and how it was going before I could let her know mine was just no good.. and then it took another 20 minutes to receive new food. They only offered to re-make the food, or go without and just take it off the bill. So I accepted the offer to remake it but it took a very long time. The manager brought me it, did not apologize for any of it, and then asked me to try it right then and there to let them know.. He just made me feel nervous, or like I was a problem table! I swear, I didn't even receive the same type of steak as the first time around. It was completely different in the way it looked, the texture, the shape, everything! Still fatty, but not nearly as bad as the first time around.. I just got a to-go bowl and paid and left. I just almost spent 2 hours there and didn't really want to spend much more time after everything. Typically we would go someone a little more fancier for such an occasion. But this was the resteraunt we spent our one year wedding anniversary at, so we decided since we made it to 10, we'd come back as like a special thing because we usually just eat at home. Its unfortunate it was no good this time.
We came in to have what we had hoped was going to be a great meal. We ordered the campfire feast for two. We upgraded the appetizer to the wagon wheel ( which we paid extra for), this came out of the kitchen cold and greasy. Our server was the bartender. She was running the restaurant by herself. However that was no reason for the service and cold food. We upgraded our steaks to Ribeyes (extra cost) which were served salty, overcooked and cold. When then server finally came back it was to ask us what we wanted for dessert. Mind you she forgot to even bring our dinner salads to us prior to our main course. When she asked us about dessert and handed me the check, I mentioned that we didn’t get our salads. This was the worst experience at this Black Angus that we have ever had! I attached the receipt for you to see. I wasted my Groupon, my money and time on a terrible meal. As well as my 50.00 gift card that I had! Update I sent an email per the owners request today as explained in his response.
The dining experience here was incredible! The drinks were strong and plentiful. The wait staff were very attentive, kind and happy. The food was delicious and well portioned. I recommend the campfire feast for two and this place is perfect for date nights.
