I'm the 1000th review. This must be auspicious! What's really fortunate and such a blessing is finding Mod Mallak for highlights and overall color. A magician is an understatement. Mod spun my straw hair into GOLD. I have 18kt strands in my hair, and it's the healthiest it's been in the last 10 years. In every lighting, it's just perfect. Bring in photos and tell him what you want, and he will tell you what is better! I've never, in 20 years of coloring my hair, had a stylist make my hair look this beautiful. The salon is the coolest, too. Amber always takes excellent care of me at the front desk and is a lovely, professional person who helps me with my purchases and books my coveted appointments with Mod. What really shines, too, are the kind cleaning managers who always make sure everything is spotless. Love their attention to detail. xo - Alisha
This review is far overdue but wanted to share my amazing experience with Blake Charles Salon, especially with my colorist Tanya. I had a wedding coming up and booked a last-minute color correction visit after another studio canceled the day before, and the entire experience from start to finish was truly luxurious. The front desk, consultation, color, cut, and styling were all handled with so much care and consideration, and the result was incredible. I was a bit nervous about getting my hair colored after a botch job by a stylist at another salon, but they talked me through the whole process and got me set up with a hair style that has grown out beautifully and is super low-maintenance. I've recommended Blake Charles to several people since!
Unfortunately my experience was great for the haircut and terrible with the hair color. I booked a partial balayage and got highlights that look like I have butter sticks in my bangs. I had all natural color and had waited 4 years to dye it and was the worst decision I’ve made to come to this place. I paid $550 for this. First of all, the salon booked my appointments the wrong way, first haircut then color, which they said it was going to be fine but they would just have to wash my hair twice then blowdry it after the color. Haircut amazing with Danny M, he had been my stylist before when he was at CODE. Then had my color with Daren, he was very very nice I showed him what I wanted but unfortunately it did not came to even close. He started foiling my hair, and after starting he left and came back to mention that I booked balayage but he was using the foil technique because it would look more uniformed and then tint. I trusted the advice besides he has already started, after putting the bleach he went away for about 20-30min, came back washed my hair put some tint for 10min. They proceeded to put me on a self dry station which I mentioned I was supposed to be blow dried by an assistant because of the mix up. Also how are you supposed to see how your color is with wet hair!!! Anyways they then put me with an assistant I was hesistant about the color but everyone kept saying “it looks so good” so I thought maybe I am just tired and hungry after 4-5 hrs at the salon and it would look better once I see it in other lighting. Well it does not look better, also right before the holidays and I am about to start a new position as part of a promotion at work which is client facing 😭. I have been trying to communicate left a voice message but nothing. Below I put pictures of my hair and the inspo. Then the bill and a picture of a color work I had professionally done 4 years ago in another salon in Mexico.
I had a great experience getting a haircut from Danny M! I had tried to give myself layers at home, but it didn’t turn out quite as planned. Danny knew exactly how to fix my DIY attempt and gave me a beautiful, blended cut. Even though I live in Texas now, I’ll be back for future cuts — totally worth the trip.
