Good amenities especially as a day visitor. Wifi with several tables to sit/work at (though only one near a power outlet), a microwave, and some snacks and drinks (for sale). Lots of cubbies everywhere and lockers in the bathroom. There is only one shower stall in the women's bathroom, so if you're planning to climb or sauna with a friend and both shower after, you'll need to take turns. Towels are rented for 2 dollars and they aren't the nicest so bring your own if you can! Shower shoes also a good idea. I spent hours here working, a little bouldering, eating my lunch, then shower. There were 2 staff members' dogs inside who were very sweet and well behaved. (I think they'll leave you alone if you don't show interest.) I only did a bit of bouldering but the set was fun. Smaller bouldering area but well laid out. There's a nice fitness class room as well, and the day pass gets you access to any classes that day, which I don't think is true at touchdown gyms so it's a nice addition. The weight area is not big but had your basics, rings, bar, kettlebell and dumbbells, jump ropes and bands, stationary bikes, mats, and a kilter board. I think hang boards were around somewhere too. In the ropes area they also have a few autobelays, and a slab wall yay! The gym doesn't have loads of staff at the desk all the time, it's a small-town vibe and pace where you might have to wait for 5 minutes bc the desk staff is giving a tour or a belay test or whatever. Just be zen about it and it'll be okay, everyone was so nice.
My daughter and I bought two week membership for our resent say. I can’t say enough about this special place. All the staff members were friendly and helpful. Matt gave great directions when setting us up and I could tell he worked with kids the way he interacted during the instructions with my 8 year old. Over all we came in almost every day, there were plenty of 5.6 to 5.9 routes for her to challenge herself on. Highlight for me was getting to see my daughter grow every day and progress little by little up there big walls.
Cool climbing gym! The front desk guy gave us a tour and explained everything thoroughly. It was my first time climbing and I had a good experience. Totally recommend for anyone who wants to try this out if you haven't it's an experience. I believe I remember it totaling up to about $60 or so for an adult and child. We had to borrow the shoes and gear so if you have that it would be cheaper. Either way I think it's worth the stop for some memories. (:
Nice climbing gym with good sets. I only had a chance to boulder here, but I enjoyed what was there. The bouldering area is upstairs and is on the smaller side with 3ish walls, part of it a cave. There’s also a kilter board next to the bouldering area. We were there while they were resetting one of the walls, so unfortunately we couldn’t climb everything there. The workout area of the gym is really good considering how small the gym is. I wouldn’t be disappointed if this was my home gym and will return when I’m in the SLT area again.
Friendly helpful staff. Nice high walls. Fun place to climb for out of towners who may not have time to go outdoors or if the weather is bad. The Refuge cafe also has great grilled Cheese and smoothies. I recommend the blueberry smoothie with espresso beans. It's delicious.
