Blue Heron Cottages sits in the heart of Ocean Beach, one of San Diego's more relaxed, dog friendly neighborhoods. The property is six cottages, each about 525 square feet, arranged around a shared, fenced courtyard, close enough to walk to Dog Beach, the sand, and the restaurants and shops along Newport Avenue. Pets were part of the plan from the start, not an afterthought. Dogs of all sizes are welcome (a pet fee applies), and the courtyard gives them room to roam right outside the door. The cottages themselves are simple by design, comfortable and easy, built for people who'd rather spend their time outside than in the room.
