Despite the negative reviews i see now, this is a solid book store. The set up is really nice and i could spend hours in there. They have a great selection of books and the prices are decent. I do think maybe the children's books that have been written in could be priced a bit cheaper. Otherwise this store is a great store. My kids really enjoy browsing and picking out new books.
Always helpful! Team will look up titles, authors, books that you are looking for. They will also check other locations. Great selection of books. Prices are reasonable, plenty of parking most days.
This review seems to only apply to the 21st location. Be careful of the prices you pay on the used books! I noticed a few weeks ago a book I was interested in seemed really high, so I looked it up. Sure enough, they were charging around $2 less than the book went for brand new. Last week there was another book I was interested in with a worse problem. The price printed on the book by the manufacturer, was CHEAPER than the price they were selling it at. I'm not sure what is going on there, but be careful. Strangely, I've not encountered anything close to this at the other two locations.
Why buy used when you can buy new for less? I've been buying and selling with Book-A-Holic for years and have loved them, but their prices have gone up recently. Multiple books I wanted to purchase were more expensive than buying them new elsewhere. I already understand big box stores can afford to sell cheaply, but you shouldn't price used books higher than buying them new. I have absolutely no problem paying a higher price for a new book from Book-A-Holic, but I will not do it for a used book. They have also changed their rewards so that not every used book is eligible for rewards/credit purchase. Again, I understand not giving this discount with new books, but prohibiting popular used books from using a rewards/credit balance doesn't seem fair. As far as I know, there is not a way to verify before you check out whether you are allowed to use your rewards to cover a portion of the cost of a specific book. Edit: if the book has a green tag, you cannot use any store credit/rewards towards your book purchase
Good selection of books, but they seem to have reduced the gift items they carry. I used to be really impressed with this place, because their prices were unbeatable. That’s not true anymore. The staff was friendly, but provided inaccurate information. It’s worth checking out if you’ve not been or if you haven’t been recently. They do offer competitive trade in rates!
