I am going to give you a situation and you tell me what you think.. pov you taking teenage girls to the book store after eating at a local spot in the area. You walk in with a hand full of electronics and let them walk around and shop for books. The next thing you know two police officers rush into the store as if they are looking to apprehend someone. You get uncomfortable because you don't know if there is a situation going on but then you notice that one officer goes to the area where two of the girls are and the other officer goe in the opposite direction where the other two girls are. You see the white office stand close with his hand on his walk talkie. Its time for the parents to pick up the remaining girls so you tell them to get go ahead and check out so that you can meet the parents. As you are leaving with the girls the alarm systems goes off. You look confused as someone just walked in and it didn't go off when you initially entered the store. The alarm system goes off again as you stand there and the cashier apologizes saying it must be because you were "shopping" at a nearby store which infact that didn't occur. They then blame the electronics that you are holding when in fact those same electronics didn't go off when entering the store. So we leave out and as I was heading back out the parking lot about 2 minutes later, I notice the officers are no longer there. I go in the store to speak with the manager about the profiling. First you are told that they didn't know the police was in the store then you were told the police wasn't called. The police was "shopping." I am going to say this. I am so thankful that I did not leave them in the store to shop nearby because that would have been awful to have police question a situation that was created for their presence. I won't return. Be safe out here.
Love the store. Love the books. I am so sick of the sales pitch at check out though. I politely declined the membership and it still gets pushed on me. I don’t mind being asked if I’m interested in the membership, but when I say no I don’t want to hear a 2 min dialogue about saving 10% and trying free magazines. I politely said no 4 times I just want to check out and go on my way. Please stop this. This is why people stop going to stores and just buy online.
Love this place. Just know what you want Because asking for advice up there won't be much help. If you're over 30. Very immature super young lil girls working there? I was asking for a recommendation about something and instead of looking up the help I needed, they were giggling in the back room. I mean, that's cool and all just next time say I don't know
Books A Million is one of our favorite stops when shopping for books or presents that might be books, or presents for Readers that will end up, of course, being books. (gift cards) There's a wide selection of books on most every subject, or every genre of fiction. If you came here and didn't know what you wanted to read, you could be here for days just browsing. But the staff is very helpful and can recommend books on most anything you might be looking for, point you to the correct aisle, or even come assist you in finding it. And that's where this review comes from. My wife wanted a cookbook. It was a relatively new one, and she told me it needed to be that specific cookbook. Not a generic cookbook. Not a Better Homes or a Meta Givens. I had no idea what it was, but I wrote the title down, and went looking. I went all over that cookbook aisle, and found tons of cookbooks by famous and infamous people. Cookbooks on cooking and on cookies. On Cakes and Caking. But I couldn't find this specific book. Guys don't EVER ask for directions. But I swallowed my pride and sidled up to the front, and asked the person there whether they might have... significant pause while I pulled out the paper and rattled off the title. The lady said, "Oh yes, we just got several copies of that in." Not, "I'll check the computer if you give me a chance." Not the glassy eyed "We ain't got it." (Which indicates they would rather NOT check the computer). No, just a matter of fact obvious knowledge of THAT SPECIFIC COOKBOOK (who reads cookbooks??). She then came out from behind the counter, went directly to the cookbook section I'd just been staring at meticulously for 30 minutes, and pulled the invisible book right out of the shelf it was on. "Here you go." I stared at it, there in my hands. I wasn't positive that staff worker wasn't a robot. Anyway, sorry, that level of knowledge of the books in your store is on a Master Class level. Kudos to the staff. As to other stuff, there are toys, gadgets, cups and bric-a-brac, bible covers, stuffed animals, puppets, and a play area for little kids in this store. The place is immaculate. Their shelves are well-stocked and neat, and the staff is ultra-helpful, experts in their field. I'm just in awe.
I rather enjoyed walking through this bookstore! I had never been there before. There is something so soothing about perusing all the books. However, this shop sells a lot more than books, which was a pleasant surprise. It's a big space and there is a lot to look at. Besides books, there are toys and trinkets and lots of gift ideas. I also appreciated that there were quite a few discount tables or good value options. I look forward to my next trip in when I have more time to really look around! Go in and spend some time and see what you think!
