THE ARRIVAL & AMBIENCE From the moment we stepped in, the tone was set by a genuinely warm welcome. The staff made us feel immediately comfortable, seating us without any rush or pressure to order. This sense of relaxed, attentive hospitality continued throughout the evening—our servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and present without being intrusive. It created the perfect, unhurried atmosphere for the meal to come. THE START The meal opened with two classic, impeccable entries. The Olive Piccanti provided a vibrant start—a selection of marinated Italian olives that were aromatic and flavourful. They were the perfect prelude to the true star of the opening act: the Home-Made Focaccia. This was rustic perfection. Served warm, it boasted a crisp, delightfully light, airy interior fragrant with rosemary. The accompanying pool of virgin olive and balsamic vinegar was all it needed. Simple, sublime, and dangerously addictive. THE BRIDGE The Calamari Fritti from the antipasti offered a stylish pivot. The Calamari was tender and fried in a delicate, crisp batter. It's modernity came from the bold accompaniments—a creamy, piquant spicy mayo and a drizzle of fragrant chilli oil that added a slow-building warmth. A well-executed and shareable dish that prepared the palate for the mains. THE MAIN ATTRACTIONS While the theatrical tossing of the pasta at the table was absent, the Bottega Coco’s Pecorino Romano Signature Cheese Wheel Experience lost none of its decadent impact upon arrival. The Spaghetti Cacio Pepe with Black Truffle is a masterclass in rich, uncompromising flavour. The sauce, emulsified from aged Pecorino Romano, is gloriously sharp, peppery, and velvety, clinging to each strand of pasta. The addition of black truffle lends a deep, earthy luxury, making this an intensely satisfying and indulgent signature dish. Seeking balance, we turned to the Pizzeria and the Paprika Chicken pizza with cherry tomatoes, stracciatella, and chilli. The base was excellent—thin, with a perfect char and a pleasing chew. The toppings created a harmonious blend: paprika chicken, sweet bursts of tomato, and cooling pools of rich stracciatella. The finishing touch of chilli flakes provided was a vibrant, modern, and thoroughly enjoyable counterpart to the hearty pasta. THE VERDICT Bottega Coco delivers the soul of Italian cooking through flawless fundamentals like its focaccia and a profoundly decadent pasta while also showcasing a confident, contemporary edge with it's pizzas and antipasti. It is an absolute standout in Barangaroo, where genuine hospitality meets depth, quality, and bold flavours that satisfy both the traditionalist and the modern food lover.
My husband and I ate here during my post-birthday celebration last November. The host was so kind and warmly welcomed us, placing us in a wonderful spot. The vibes and ambience were lovely and very peaceful. The food was great — don’t ever miss trying their spaghetti alla marinara made with fresh seafood 👌 Everything was delicious, and definitely don’t skip the desserts too!
The best T Bone steak, ever. With an amazing dessert suggestion. Our waiter Patrizio gave us the best dessert the lemon meringue. Having a waiter who understands the food is a plus every time. Our night was beautiful, service and atmosphere was amazing. 10/10 will be back definitely in the new year. Patrizio thank you for making our night magical.
The food was absolutely amazing, and I’ve officially become a big fan of Rivvoli. As a vegetarian, I didn’t feel left out at all—the menu and flavours were fantastic. My husband and I love this place any time. The décor is also very beautiful. Mateo was incredible with his service, recommendations, and warm personality. He’s funny, always smiling, and made our experience feel so comfortable. My husband and I truly enjoyed interacting with him. It honestly felt like we were sitting at home.
I went to Bottega Coco with a friend for a dinner catch-up, and the service was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, our waiter, Guillaume, was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. He took our food preferences and allergies seriously, offered great suggestions, and made the whole experience feel effortless. My friend ordered the wheel-cheese pasta, and I had the ragù gnocchi. We also had some delicious mocktails, followed by tiramisu and the raspberry dessert. Everything was truly a 10/10 experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting as well. They were very busy, and it’s easy to see why, the service, food, and overall experience are excellent from start to finish. I highly recommend this place!
