Visited Bubba’s Texas Burger Shack while in Houston. The atmosphere was casual with a true old-school vibe — the kind of place where the name says it all: “Bubba” feels homemade and “shack” takes you back in time. The location, tucked under the highway, oddly adds to the character and charm. The service was friendly and easygoing. Tried the burger and fries — the burger was basic but good, and the fries were well-seasoned and nicely crispy. Overall, a great spot for locals and worth a return visit. Saluti
Stopped in for the first time after driving by it multiple times and stating to my fiancée that we should try it out. All I have to say is that I'm so glad we did. Even though the burger wasn't expensive, it was still the best I've had. The workers were very helpful, and I appreciated the low key atmosphere. Although there weren't any games playing at the time, they have multiple big screen tvs that would be great for a college or professional football game. I really appreciated that they have the options of both beef hamburgers and bison meat burgers. I will absolutely be stopping by sometime soon as I really would love to try some of the other things on the menu. Thank you so much for the great experience, y'all. I can understand why y'all have been in business for over 40 years. Much love.
We had 1 beef and 1 bison burger and fries. The burgers were good, well seasoned but not exactly to die for. I will say, tho, that unless you are feeling significantly carnivorous a single will suffice. Fries were served hot and crispy. I found it a little pricey but the staff was very nice and welcoming. Overall it was a good experience but I'm not sure that I'll specifically carve the time out for a return on my next visit to Houston.
I visited Bubba’s Texas Burger Shack with my family after searching for the best burger nearby, and this spot delivered far beyond what its simple under-the-overpass look suggests. Service was friendly, the ordering process was quick, and the atmosphere is straightforward and no-frills. Now—the food: ⸻ 🍔 The Food (The Real Focus) Las Vegas Burger This burger surprised me from the first bite. The balance of ingredients is extremely well thought out: • Beef patty: Thick, juicy, and cooked to a perfect medium. What stood out is that it’s intentionally light on salt—something I actually appreciated because it lets the natural flavor of the meat come through, and you can season to taste with just a pinch. • Egg: Cooked at an ideal point: fully set on the whites but with a tender, moist yolk that blends smoothly into the meat and condiments without making the burger messy. It adds richness without overpowering. • Avocado: Fresh slices, not mushy, and placed in the right amount so you get creaminess in each bite without the burger falling apart. • Bun: The bun deserves special mention. Soft, airy, and slightly sweet—not gummy or dense. It actually adds flavor and texture to the experience rather than just holding the ingredients together. It compresses just enough to handle the juiciness of the burger without disintegrating. Overall, the composition of this burger feels deliberate: every element is in proportion, and nothing competes for attention. It has that “classic but elevated” taste that only long-practiced execution can achieve. ⸻ 🍟 The Fries The fries are processed—not hand-cut—but they’re given a smart twist: double or deep-fried. This technique gives them a noticeably crisp outer layer while keeping the inside light. They don’t carry any special seasoning or standout flavor, but the texture is the highlight. A very solid side, though the burger is the true star. ⸻ 💵 Price Around $50 for 3 specialty burgers, 3 drinks, and 3 fries. For the quality of the burgers, this is absolutely fair in Houston. ⸻ ✔️ Final Verdict If you want a genuinely well-crafted burger—juicy, balanced, flavorful, and prepared with care—Bubba’s Texas Burger Shack is an excellent choice. The setting is simple, but the food shows decades of experience. I would definitely return for the burger alone.
I was really in a mood for a burger and find this gem place hidden under a highway in Houston. It very small inside while ordering but plenty of outdoor seating. It's a very nice rustic place that has been eaten up the city. I order the patty melt and this was easy one of the best patty melt I have had. It was so cheesy and the meat was juicy. The onion rings are always great the way they should be made. If your in the area this is a must stop place for lunch or dinner.
