I had an incredible experience with them. From start to finish, the team was professional, friendly, and truly passionate about their craft. The studio itself was clean, well equipped and had great lighting setups that made every shot look amazing. Can't wait to book with them again!
I did a birthday and family photoshoot with Butler and Badou Portraits, and here is my honest assessment of their service. When I first visited their website, I noticed the pricing information was lacking. They advertise a $500 print credit, but that doesn’t go far when their products are priced in the thousands of dollars. There was no clear breakdown of pricing upfront, which was very disappointing. The photoshoot experience itself was good. Afterward, they did a projector presentation of our photos, which felt like a high-pressure upsell for their expensive canvas prints. We considered the option since we had the $500 credit, but when we asked about the 4-in-1 canvas, I was shocked to hear it was nearly $10,000 — yes, $10k for a canvas! We declined the canvas and decided to purchase digital copies instead. I was informed the minimum purchase was 10 photos, and we selected 12 photos out of about 70. The total cost? Over $3,000 just for 12 digital photos, plus the initial booking fee. At that price, I expected flawless, professionally edited images, but that was not the case. The photos showed minimal to no editing, and I had to repeatedly ask them to address basic issues like discolorations and brightness. When they sent back the edits, the images looked AI-generated and unnatural, with my husband and son appearing feminine and off-looking. I even edited one photo myself on my iPhone to show them what I was expecting — yet no meaningful improvements were made. Eventually, I requested that they reverse the AI-looking edits and send me the unedited versions instead, but after that, they stopped responding altogether. As of today, July 17th, after shooting in the second week of June, I still haven’t heard back from them. Overall, I find it disheartening to have spent so much money only to end up re-editing the images myself (if I get the original digital copy). I strongly advise anyone considering them to be fully aware of the hidden costs and lack of transparency before booking. I sincerely hope they improve their process and adopt a more honest, client-focused approach, especially given the premium pricing they charge for this experience. I will not be returning or referring anyone to them for sure!
I had such a great experience at Butler & Badou! I had a wonderful time in the studio and loved having Marian coach me through everything. I was a little nervous coming in, but she made me feel so comfortable and I left feeling so glamorous and still can't believe that's me in some of the photos! I truly wish I could have purchased every single one. I came home feeling confident, beautiful, and proud after seeing a side of myself I didn't even know was there. I’m so grateful for the entire experience and for both Marian and Tiffany, my makeup artist, for taking the time to help me feel so radiant. Thank you both for making it such a special and empowering day!
From the moment I walked into the studio Marian made me feel welcome and comfortable. The entire photo shoot was extremely fun and professional. Marian made me look and feel amazing! And I can’t leave out the talented Tiffany, who styled my hair perfectly and gave me a glowing face for the photos! Absolutely wonderful experience that I will tell all of my friends about!
Marian is very nice and will never forget our experience in her lovely studio! Very spacious and my extended family had enough room to lounge on the couches while we waited our turn to take photos. My fiance proposed to me during our shoot and I invested in a timeless family photo and frame that will leave my legacy for generations to come. Thank You! - Christine
